All week TJJ getting messages..."Yuh going to pour oil on the Bushfire?" ... "If Mangoseed there I going for sure!" ... "Will the Shipwrecked costumes be on display?" There was a hype about this party that we haven’t seen in a while and we have to say Nicholai La Barrie and the Mangoseed (www.mangoseed.co.uk) came tonight to storm Abacus, light up the Bushfire and keep the pepper hot! Aha!! So this is the Bushfire’s magic ingredient!
Tonight the upstairs lounge of Abacus was transformed into a mini concert as peeps flowed through the doors early and sipped on their cocktails in eager anticipation of the Mangoseed performance; and Nicholai and the gang didn’t disappoint. We get some serious guitar action.. some sweet lyrics.. some Rasta man vibrations.. complete with the shampoo ad hair flicks! Darling!! It’s not just a band, it’s a culture! As
the sweet sounds of the Mangoseed were put to rest for the night, the lounge
area emptied as people rushed down the stairs to catch DJ Markee and Gladiators
in action on the decks! Ah yes... our resident Busspepper DJs, blasting out carnival
tunes from way back right up to 2009..... and adding some commentary to the dance
whenever they see a pretty face!! Who say, "Hold on to yuh family!!!"
LOL... we love it!! Like the DJs want to play with fire too??!! Now we find in the lead up to the party there was plenty of excitement about the heat that gonna be in Bushfire ... the ladies , yes they were hot.. the music, super hot.. but boy, oh boy.. whatever it is they did to Abacus when they redecorate... wow, this venue was seriously hot.... we were sweating! TJJ had to cool down with some cocktails. But, with bartenders like Julien mixing up some Strawberry Cloud's and Mai-Tai's, we can definitely deal with the heat!! Now
no pepper would be complete without some serious spice. Yuh know TJJ always had
to catch someone snogging in the dance... and it’s been a while since we
see two girls in action! Busspepper you are becoming a true ‘staple’ of Caribbean culture in London. Yuh even trying to get the peeps organised and booking online in advance .... well, what is this? We think a little British culture getting in the dance!! They even offer two tickets for the next two parties as part of a prize draw for the organised peeps who order their Bushfire tix on the net ... we love it!!!. Even with the credit crunch, Busspepper gives us the chance to jam right up to and beyond the Notting Hill Carnival. Busspepper going to continue to heat up the place as they team up with UK TRIBE on August 22nd for TRIBE Ignite ... J'Ouvert Business'09 will be waiting for us after we messy in the chocolate ... and last but by no means least, we on the road stranded in the Orient with the hottest Shipwrecked ladies for Notting Hill. Bring it on ... bring on the pepper and spice ... TJJ IS READY!! Beth
