Being "Breathless" is now an under statement as de fetes jus seem 2 be hitting us over the head for the 2K8 season..... after leaving "Soca Fusion" (Presentation College & The Rotary Club of Chaguanas All Inclusive) and "Fete with the Saints" (St. Mary's All-Inclusive Fete) fetes, Westmoorings was our target to cover the Privilege Committee's 2008 presentation of Wicked In White. With people parking as far away as back 2 the highway, the party must be a hit! Earlier reports state that patrons were well directed in parking by security with adequate shuttles (Big Maxis) 2 take them 2 the fete. The set up and ambiance was top notch. Inside was simply a "cloud" of white (photo) with everyone inside responding to the call to don white apparel. The "massive" crowd of a few thousand people filled the venue nicely yet it was a bit of a "Pressure Boom" at the bars and bathrooms. In our lateness we were only able 2 hear the finishing chords of Machel Montano HD as the band hurried off to perform at Licensing Fete. We mixed and mingled with the peeps in the audience between bands and when I tell yuh bout Besss Ladies, I make no overstatement. From the simple white top and blue jeans to the more popular totally white outfits the ladies made their presence felt and had many a man stopping and starring as the night went along. The most popular flicks for the guys seemed to be a white shirt with matching white shoes. After being entertained by the always popular High Fidelity/ Less Than Zero, crew it was time for Destra Garcia & Atlantik to cap off our night. Dressed in all white, the band came out and showed real woman power as Destra was ably backed up by Antiguan Soca artist Tizzy out of El-A-Kru. Yes, Tizzy has teamed up with Atlantik for the C2k8 season, so look out for her (and TJJ TV Interview). They wowed the crowd with their wining skills as Destra ran through her arsenal of hits from this and past years including her most recent collaborations with Jamaican superstars Mr. Vegas & Sean Paul for "On The Floor" and "Free It Up" respectively. Tizzy brought the energy to a peak with her explosive rendition of her 2007 hit "Expose" before the crowd was given a really unexpected surprise. Dancehall megastar Beenie Man popped up on stage with Destra and did it like only he can, as he belted out some of his internationally known songs with the crowd lapping up every moment of it. But the most entertaining moment of the night was probably when Destra questioned Beenie's wining capabilities. Dr. Moses put all doubts to rest, and showed why he is known as "De Girls Dem Sugar". All in all, the night was a tiring but enjoyable one and one with moments we won't soon forget. Special thanks to the entire Privilege committee for accommodating us. See you guys at de next fete (See Privilege 2008 Carnival Calendar)!! Look out for TJJ "Blazin D Trail" at all the BEST FETES for the season, and don't forget to check out our TJJ TV section for exclusive coverage.
