D Young Juice at it again in the Carnival 2K8 fever, headed up to the UWI Senior Common Room All Inclusive. So what we cud say bout this fete ... it's an annual fete and caters for a more mature crowd, with the ticket price of $400TT.
Arriving at 5:30pm we were linked by a drive-thru service which entailed entry by the gate, where tickets were collected, and we were inside in two two's. Stepping inside the fete, bars were set up on the left with welcome rooms containing premium wines. The Senior Common Room itself contained the main food course, with cuisine's varying from Creole to Indian to Chinese. Appetizers or 'cutters' as we like to say, ranged from Bake and Shark, Geera Pork, Accra, Chicken Wings all the way to the famous 'Vincy Pork' (photo) which was baked in a pit with charcoals. We definitely coming back to get ah taste of that pork!!
Grolsh had a famous cocktail bar where premium drinks were prepared. Well allyuh know d' Young Juice had to try their famous "Blue Devil" and "Wine with a Passion Drink", and last but not least Häagen-Dazs ice cream to soothe the stomach after a scrumptious meal.
Music was engineered by CJ, Bad Lad (Toronto), and Anonymous (NY). Working and monitoring the scene, we were able to catch a few pics as the crowd sip and ate. Around this time, the lovable lunatic Crazy was on stage. Amongst his many recitals the much loved hit for the 2K8 season, Phone Card, was done much to the delight of the crowd. Following Crazy was none other than the woman that gave us the Phone Card Reply ... Lady Silver.
Terry Seals and Michelle Sylvester heated the crowd as Blue Ventures took the stage with front line singers Lima Calbio and Sanelle Dempster. Sanelle took the crowd down memory lane as she performed her 1999 Road March hit "River".
The DJ's were back on the 1's and 2's as the crowd awaited Bajan Soca artist Alison Hinds and her full band. Taking a swing at it before Alison hit the stage was Peake's Scorpion Pan Reflections, giving us a taste of some sweet steel pan music. At about 10pm, Alison took the stage to a welcoming crowd whom were all ready to party as she performed most of her popular renditions. Alison really had the vibes going!
While chilling and enjoying the vibes, we checked back at the food stalls in order to ensure we got a taste of that 'Vincy Pork' we sighted earlier. In doing so we were right on time, now catching the chefs taking it out of the pit. Taking a quick taste of de um .... ummm delicious meat, it definitely was well worth the trip back. Leaving with an exquisite taste and flavor in our mouths, it was time to call it a night.
