As always, you'll find TJJ up in de mix covering plenty social and all inclusive events. And on this particular Sunday, with the sun blazing down on sweet TnT, we had the National Panorama 2008 Prelims and UWI's Annual All Inclusive fete on the agenda The theme for UWI fete was "Champagne and Pearls". Now each year, the Development and Endowment Committee would have two fundraisers; the Golf Challenge in September, and this fete. On arrival we realized the massive amount of people that would be attending due to the amount of cars and our difficulty to secure a parking space. Finally... we parked and proceeded towards the festivities. At the door the admission fee was $600TT ($100US), and this would include all the food and drinks until you had your fill, together with prime entertainment.
On the inside, the elaborate decorations and organization of the party was very impressive. The party began at 12 noon and the DJs kept the partygoers entertained with an assortment of great soca hits for 2008. Some of the food included Bake & Shark, Doubles, Creole cuisine and desserts for those with a sweet tooth. There was also a wide assortment of drinks and a very impressive cocktail bar.
As people continued to enjoy the music and ambiance, live performances were put on by Destra and Atlantik, Roy Cape All Stars and Machel Montano HD. The vibe at this party was very mature and sophisticated. There were many big name celebrities enjoying the festivities such as Brian Lara, Professor Maxwell Richards, Wendy Fitzwilliam and the Principal of UWI himself and to name a few. There were also television screens strategically placed in the venue so the performances could be enjoyed by all.
As the evening progressed, Machel Montano HD was the last band to appear on stage. Even though it was coming to the end of the fete, the crowd was in frenzy as Mr. Montano hit the stage and gave one of his best performances (if that's even possible). His never ending energy kept spectators overwhelmed with Carnival fever. Once Montano finished, a steel pan rendition began to end the night off. What a wonderful fete and enjoyable experience! Everything officially finished at 8pm as carded, and most folks seemed more than satisfied, as their expressions exuded that of happiness and amazement. With action still on and poppin' in de Queens Park Savannah ... who say Pan Prelims? Neal and Massy and Phase II ent play yet.... lewwe go!!
