It's Carnival Thursday in sweet TnT, so you can only imagine how the TJJ Team all over doing we part for the short season. From the files of the Fetealotathon® Blue Team, we bring you an account of event # 3, University Splash, inside the Zen World! Beach House Carnival 2008 and TRIBE Carnival Thursday 2008 "Ignite" were the other two Carnival Thursday Fetealotathon® events covered. University Splash, as the name implies, sort to encourage university students to attend, and so the students of our U.W.I came out in their numbers. Trinity Hall, Canada Hall and Milner Hall all prepared themselves as they attended this party with their distinguished wear to identify themselves.

Every year is the same seen as traffic backed up from Caranage straight to The Hanger, but say what ... daz all part of de action. So we finally reach on the scene and were inside in two two's. The VIP section was to left, right and back of the stage, and contained bar and a food areas. In checking out the layout of the VIP/backstage, it was amazing to see the type of toilets they set up. Real classy stuff! (see photos 59 and 60). Moving to the general section, which was ram, there were big screens on either side; in the middle was the empire tower (Redbull tower). This tower contained three levels, with the top and bottom being for the media, and the middle for special invited guests of A.S Bryden. In this middle section, a most accommodating bar pumped out various premium complimentary alcohol (of course Redbull being the chaser of choice), as well as offered hors'dourves to guests.

Time for the live performances! Destra and Atlantik moved the crowd with their usual performance, singing all her hits, including her popular "Saddle" track on the Banjo Riddim accompanied with dancers. She had partygoers moving as she hyped de scene. In wrapping things up, Destra performed her 2008 mash up tune, “Free It Up”, as none other than dancehall star Sean Paul graced the stage. Being SP's first appearance on stage with Destra for the season, they had a little flex out in between and stirred the crowd. After Atlantik left the stage, it was time to go back to the 1's and 2's, as the “World's University Star Sound” represented with hype man Bling and DJ's Young Simmo and Junior K. They kept the crowd pumped with excitement and anticipation for the King of Soca Machel Montano, who was up next.

Around 2:30 AM, Machel Montano HD hit the stage, bringing lots more than energy to this fete. Performing alongside his HD crew Zan, Patrice Roberts and the hot HD dancers, Machel not only delivered an arsenal of all his 2008 releases, but also brought back some memories singing some classic Xtatik tunes. Patrice was accompanied on stage by Jamaican reggae artist Macka Diamond for their performance of "Wukkin' Up Remix".

The heat continued as Machel later brought calypso icon David Rudder onto the stage to perform their collaboration hit “Oil and Music”. In the years gone, University Splash always had something extra to offer, dropping in surprise guest artist such as Bennie Man, Elephant Man, Mr. Vegas to mention a few. So partygoers knew this year had to have a little something in store. None other than reggae sensation Jah Cure graced the stage as he sang a lil' something. Weeey .... it was rhel vibes! Our TJJ cameras also spotted the good doctor of de dancehall himself, Bennie Man taking a lil' flex (photos 95 and 96)!

Around 4:45 AM, all performances came to an end, and the University Splash crowd was nice still. The DJ's kept playing for a while and in an attempt to leave, we caught a glimpse of the traffic outside and figured .... better we stay a bit longer. Well, like we said earlier ... it's all part of the action if you want to part take in the festivities. See you guys in next year's Splash!
