It's Carnival Friday night here in T&T. In the air one could feel the level of excitement and anticipation constantly escalating ... we on de home stretch now! This is a night where iz fete taking place all over and well de TJJ team spread far and wide, strategically deploying troops to several locations.
This unit of the TJJ Carnival Frontline journeyed up Moka at around 11 PM as we decided to add Privilege's Annual Cooler Fete Rise to the Fetalotathon® for 2008. After bussing ah quick park on de lush green grass up in this valley, we strolled over to the venue and quickly made ourselves at home. Now it was a cooler fete, so there are two things to note. Firstly, watch where ya walking! We see nuff people tripping over coolers and ting. Secondly, find out where your drinking crew liming! When iz time for a drink, there cah be no stickin .
So we inside ... to the left and right we see bars running up both sides. On the right hand side closer to the back, we also see some food stalls in de mix. Way to the back were the washrooms, and to the totally opposite end was the main stage. Anything in between all this is only crowd.
Now getting closer to 12 AM Destra and Atlantik soon took the stage. Also appearing were her four dancers outfitted in red Girls Just Wanna Have Fun T's with silver shorts and caps. These girls really come to life when the band does the recital of the 2k8 hit "Saddle". Here male patrons are always invited up to test their bravery and better yet, wine-ing skillz. Tonight one of the cowboys got a little too wild while on the saddle however, and Destra's lip accidentally got busted. Oh bwoy! This kinda dampened her performance but when Sean Paul came on and they did the duo performance to the big chune "Free It Up", things sure got lively again.
After Destra's performance, some blue devils were spotted amongst the bushed up in the hills. It wasn't too long before they came down began parading throughout the crowd, spitting fire to the fete-goers amazement. Then at about minutes to two, Imij & Co. graced the stage. As usual they put on an entertaining show, reciting many of the popular soca hits for the C2k8 season. In wrapping up their act, they left the life of the party in the capable hands of DJ High Fidelity/Less than Zero.
As the hours drew closer 3 AM the fete began to wind down. By this time, most coolers were practically empty, the bars were beginning to close off and some folks had even begun to leave in order to avoid being caught up in the traffic heading out. We should have taken note of this traffic situation too, yes! By the time we step outside, iz one long line of cars as far de eyes could see backed up in ah jam. Well look ting! No scene ... there were nuff happy campers liming in de road to keep us both occupied and entertained.
