On Saturday 19th January 2008, was one of the anticipated concept parties called "Gyal Farm", which was hosted by Shal Marshal of the 96.1 W.E.F.M family. The party kicked off about 10:30 pm, and both male and female feters came out in their farm gear. "Let's get ready to round up dem gyal right now..." Girls were in straw hats, jumpers and even pom pom shorts (yes some rhel short pants) tantalizing de guys. So yes, although it was a farm, there were no animals here! Well, unless you counting all de 'Party Animals'!! Hehe. We linked up our ALL ACCESS passes. Thanks Shal!! Upon entering we were immediately intoned to the performance by Peter C. Lewis & The Orchestra that had the crowd moving to his smash hit for 2008 "Over and Over". Following Peter C. were Umi Marcano and Justin Cross. Also taking the stage with The Orchestra was the infamous 3Suns (Soca music's trio - Menace, Ace and Crym) who got a great response to their 2k8 hit "Sexy Wine". Partygoers were then entertained to the sounds of DJs Xbass as they waited for the Asylum band to set up. Meanwhile, in VIP (which was not accessible to backstage patrons), folks were having a time enjoying de VIP treatment and making full use of the all-inclusive premium drinks and food available. The only complaint we heard from VIP was their positioning - they could not fully see the main stage, and as such had to take in the performances by looking at the big screens provided. Heading back stage-side, Faye-Ann Lyons awakened the crowd with "Road Call", but the hype really got started when she sang "Get On", her Road March contender as she commanded all the big flags to the front of the stage to teach them the "Wave... Hold It" dance. This had the crowd in a frenzy... Faye-Ann definitely gave an excellent performance. Bunji was not present, and we really didn't know why??!! Akil (Associate Degree) and Ishmael "The Demolition Man" (96.1 W.E.F.M) then entertained the masses during the intermission between Asylum and the HD band. As Machel's band begun to play, drinks flew into the air like fire works and a small section of HD fans even fled unto the stage and begun doing the "Jumbie" dance causing security to step into play, quickly removing the overjoyed patrons off the stage in order to protect our superstar, Machel Montano. Machel proceeded to give a great performance as always but his voice was horse, as the short season was beginning to take it's toll. Then he presented Ricky T who brought a greater hype to the stage with his 2007 St. Lucia Road March "Pressure Boom". Patrice Roberts, who looked stunning we must say, then gave a spectacular performance with her choreographed moves and HD back up dancers. "Thunder Waist" is definitely doing some damage this season. Zan and Farmer Nappy also did a nice job in moving the crowd with respective hits "Out On De Road" and "Chippin'". Mr. HD closed his performance with "Blazin D Trail" and reminded the crowd about his AC 3+3 concert scheduled for Jan 26th. Overall the fete was great! Good vibes with patrons having nice time. We're looking forward to next year.... "Meet we on de farrrrrrm.... de "Gyal Farm"..." Young
