Okay ... this is it ... the last run ... the home stretch ... things officially getting serious ... it's just about a week and a half before CARNIVAL!!!

Just 2 inform you ... the U.W.I. St. Augustine campus has a mini Carnival season of its own in the week before the week before Carnival ... lol ... and with both the Young Juice and Young Simmo staying stones throws away from campus (shoutout to the Bushe Street Crew!!!) you can expect maximum coverage.

So Thursday nite was all about the Big Soca Chutney Fete ... this type of fete is always heavily supported by the campus massive and this installment was no exception. We pulled up at the venue after 9pm and the campus was buzzing with ppl. In true Trini style, almost everyone was limin' outside waiting for the performances to start.

So we took in the vibes outside with some friends and immediately realised that alcohol and girls was the theme of the night... not too many complaints from our side... lol.

After 10pm we made our way inside and it was just getting sticky as “the voice of the new generation”, Trevyln was on stage giving the crowd a healthy serving of Soca tunes - "Wave .... Hold It ..... Wave ... Hold It .... Hold It, Hold It, Hold It" ..... you know the rest!

MC for the night, Jason Williams aka J.W. then came on and kept the crowd in good spirits after a bit of a technical flaw with the music system. After that was sorted out it was time for the featured performers of the night as the big band Dil-E-Nadan came on to a warm audience reaction.

Mr. "Everybody Loves" Raymond Ramnarine and the family had the crowd in their grasp for a full hour as they went through an entertaining set of recent and old skool Soca and Chutney hits.

But the big star of the night had to be 2008 break through Chutney artist Hunter who got like 4 or 5 encores from the crowd for his 2k8 hit “Bring It”. He even showed some versatility and some "Bunji Garlinish" qualities as he freestyled an additional verse about the “other” thing he wants in d morning ... hope the ladies took note!!! LOL.

After the performances, the “World’s Greatest University Sound” Cyberia World with Junior K, Bling & Young Simmo took the fete to its 2am end time with such a hype that the feters were in a dismay when Campus Police decided to shut it down. But it was with good reason ... I mean ... classes in de morning and then the main Campus Event - Campus Carnival 2008 - and you dun know TJJ in dat 2!
