Envy, known to most as one of the seven deadly sins - but tonight it was simply one of the best nights at the Skyy View Lounge. We arrived at the venue roughly around 11:30pm and things were already kicking off. The atmosphere at Envy was a cool and casual one, with everybody mingling amongst themselves as if it were a family affair. We even came across a few familiar faces throughout the night, Kes Diefenthaller and his band and Synergy TV – all having a great time.
Grooving to the beats of The Angel Journey and The Hit Man Howie T, not forgetting the menu that spanned from bake and shark to shrimp wantons – and “2 for one” premium drinks neither myself or any of the other classy patrons could ask for more. As the night moved smoothly along we came to the night’s highlight. And I must say, words cannot describe the spectacle that is Laza Beam, Trinidad and Tobago’s Drum and Bass Specialist.
Laza Beam wowed the audience with his versatility at the drums and keyboard. Even opening the floor to those who wanted to join in the musical experience – providing a cowbell and electric guitar – and just as openly some took up the offer and jammed out with Laza Beam. As the jam session commenced we were all astonished by laser light displays on the dance floor.
Apart from a couple technical difficulties the night was quite the experience and as Envy came to an end and we made our way out….we were greeted by another surprise – a doubles vender preparing hott doubles for us – what a way to end our night. And with the Envy slowly drifting behind us as we made out way back to the East, we couldn’t help but think of those poor souls who missed out – they must surely Envy us.
Well – till next time - you guys keep on keeping on!
Peace, Ray J.
