When we initially got a phone call from our homegirl Rochelle of Social Esquire inviting TJJ to yet another party for the already hectic Miami Carnival weekend, we were a bit skeptical of how this was going to pan out. Then she said, it was from 2-6PM ... music to our ears! This gives us enough time to squeeze in some sleep between Friday night feting and Saturday's slew of all inclusives and fetes. And when she further explained that it included an open bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and an experience of a lifetime ... well, she had us at "Open bar!" J Time to add a boatride into the Miami Carnival Trini Jungle Juice mix!
CROWD:
We know that Social Esquire is a team of successful and talented young female attorneys that promotes exclusive events, and good company usually keeps good company right? Well bingo! It was a classy, upscale & mature crowd on the boat. Everyone was well dressed ... ladies looking sexy (esp the one's showing off their swimsuits below their outfits ... just enough to keep the fellas curiosity peaked) and the men keeping it 'jiggy casual'. The best thing about this bunch was most weren't afraid to let their hair down, get loose and have a good time.
VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
The Sea Isle Marina is conveniently located on North Bayshore Drive, just behind the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay hotel (sponsor hotel for the Miami-Broward ONE Carnival). It took us less than 15 minutes from Coconut Groove to get there. A couple paid secured parked lots were available, but there's nothing better that free street parking (if you're lucky to find one). The Midnight Sun had two levels, both comfortably air-conditioned. And for those who wanted to take in the warm ocean breeze, outside at the back of level 2 was the place to be.
VIBES:
We got sailing just after 2:30pm, and DJ Top Feelin kept the boat rocking with an excellent mix of selections (RnB, Hip Hop, Reggae, Soca ... you name it) until we docked. When smallies doing the "Dutty Wine" in less than 30 minutes from setting sail, you know it's on and popping (check out gallery)! If it's one thing this boatride didn't lack was party starters!! And besides drinks flowing abundantly, the gracious hosts did an excellent job in ensuring ALL of their guests were enjoying themselves.
FOOD/DRINK:
Five words .... "Open bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres!"
SERVICE:
A glass of champagne, fresh fruit and lots of delicious finger foods from the minute you stepped on board the vessel. All served by professional, friendly staff (see photo). Top notch service!
Rochelle, Jamila and Daniela ... "Luxe Life" was the sleeper event for Miami-Broward ONE Carnival 2009, placing it at #2 on our TJJ Party Guru Report Card! Again, thanks for having us. We're looking forward to Social Esquire's next event!
