This year the two mas bands, TriniPosseUK and Lagniappe, teamed up to bring Carnival on the streets of Notting Hill. TriniPosseUK 2009 presentation was 'Roman Visitors'. Lagniappe consisted of a presentation from the Incognito/Busspepper collaboration which brought us 'Shipwrecked in the Orient' following their awesome party at the weekend (view coverage). We had Naughty Ninjas, Sweet Samurais, Geisha Girls, Kung Fu Hustlers and Raunchy Romans in abundance! Posh and Diva Juice gonna give you TJJ party Guru run down right here!
VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
The bands pulled off from their usual spot just behind Latimer Road tube and pulled back in to the exact same spot! So whether you drove or took the tube you cyah get lost! It also happened to be the same spot that Pure Lime left from yesterday so newcomers only had to retrace their steps and they back in the mix!
CROWD:
All sections were uber sexy! We got the usual die hard Busspepper crew mixed with some 'once a year only' party animals, all out for a good time. A crew of Naughty Ninjas even travel from Kent in the South East of the United Kingdom! Who say 'just can't miss this jamming?!' It would have been great if we had everyone in their sections so we could see the full impact of the Mas but, we guess a sign of good times was everyone forgot the costumes and focused on the job in hand ... wine wine wine wine wine... WE LIKE IT! Anyhow let's not forget Carnival is Mas and even though Incognito brought us real vibes, Just a thought for next time: Should there be a band presentation with everyone in their sections? a frontline? a section leader? Lagniappe if yuh could keep the vibes and show us the Mas in the true sense ... only one thing to say: FABULOUS!!!
FOOD & DRINKS:
Once again, Lagniappe offered a fully all inclusive band with a large truck set up as the bar for the day. Lunch was served early and Team TJJ lick up the pelau and coleslaw as soon as it was served, while some of us licked up the rice with Saltfish - A man say "I swear my granny cook dis yes!!!" We needed our energy for the afternoon! We hear some confusion over numbers meant some people didn't get food, but we did and it was great! Bar staff were fun and friendly and plenty of them working meant it was easy to fill yuh cup as and when. Great to see a full selection of premium drinks flowing! Now Lagniappe get buff last year for cutting out the route early, but I got to say we would have preferred that again. Staying on the route too long meant drinks eventually buss, run out, done, man throat dry!!!! Oops (although the crowd was still buzzing!)
VIBES:
To start with the crowd was real small so we guess everyone must be recovering from Chocolate Mas (view coverage)! However, Lagniappe may have gotten off to a slow start but soon warmed up when they hit Ladbroke grove! Girls get pick up all how, somebody costume buss from the jamming! TJJ TV were in the mix ... with Diva Juice making sure TJJ wuking hard! Even a photographer from another website pass out from the excitement - PASS OUT!!!! COLD!!!! DJs were playing the best in 2k9 Soca AND all the hits from years gone by ... once again the vibez from Shipwrecked All Inclusive and Chocolate Mas were flowing through the band ALL DAY. Just like last year, there were peeps stopping de crew and buying costumes on d road to join the band one time!!
Lagniappe yuh vibes were on point! This year's Chinee Ninjas took Notting Hill by storm yet again! Next year let's get off the grove early and enjoy that sweet las lap before any trouble start (yes, there was a scary moment at the end). We have got to big up Lagniappe for yuh security this year though; last year the security were liming too much BUT this year, they get on BAD! If yuh don't have a band and a costume ... OUT! Nice nice... thank you Lagniappe crew for taking on board our Party Guru comments from last year. Let the people who pay their money enjoy d mas!!
We can only hope to be 'Shipwrecked' so good for 2010!!!
