In the news recently has been a story about a woman who was abducted several years ago when she was a teen and held for more than 9 years against her will. We've all heard these types of stories before, nothing strange about that. But upon further inspection of this and many other stories, it has become now clearer than ever that one thing in the American media is for certain.... apparently only Caucasians get abducted. Think about it, when have you ever heard on NBC, CNN or any other International News Network of a Black, Asian, or Hispanic child being abducted? That's because you don't.
No, mi breds, we don't go missing. Minorities just hang out and get killed in gang violence or car accidents. Not kidnapped, not returned safely, not anything like that. There is an episode of Family Guy where they stake claim to this. Several reporters are gathered by a bus saying that there is a little girl trapped under a bus, they say her name is Smith or something so and everyone awws and then one reporter says "Oh, wait no...that's Santiago" and the crowd leaves. Funny in a very sad way.
Why does this happen? Why is no story reported about us? I don't get it and it infuriates me! CBS ran a story a couple of years ago on this phenomenon. I was so happy to see that someone thought that this was wrong... it was a great segment but even after reporting that, nothing changed. Just another way that America is still separated, segregated...
