POS, Trinidad - Monday 31st January 2022 -- The National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago Press Conference on the "Taste of Carnival 2022" was held earlier today at the NCC VIP Lounge, Carnival City Grand Stand, Queen's Park Savannah. NCC Chairman, Winston "Gypsy" Peters updated the public on the Commission's preparations to date as follows.
Summary
- Proposed budget is 25-30 million dollars
- Taste of Carnival 2022 will be showcasing Calypso Tents/Fiestas/Monarch, King and Queen Competition, Steelpan
- Three (3) designated Safe Venues; Queen's Park Savannah, Queen's Hall, Naparima Bowl
- Using Outdoor area which allows for 50% capacity
- Introduction of isolated Pods at venues
- Pods can hold 6-9 person and will be managed by security
- All NCC events are for fully vaccinated patrons only
- In conjunction with the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA), the NCC will offer all carnival patrons, practitioners, artistes 2 days of checkups and vaccinations to ensure health and wellness
- 1st event will be held February 4th, which will be virtual Calypso show. Then live show on February 11th.
- All events will have an entrance fee
