Port Of Spain, Monday 13th March 2016: After several years abroad, Candice Harry, International Hair Stylist returned to T&T last year and founded her own brand of hair care and a salon under the brand, 'House of Kathy' located in Woodbrook, Port of Spain.
While in New York, she was on the cutting edge of “short hair-don’t care” movement having worked on the hair of notable reality TV stars and film actors. Getting back into the local hair care scene has opened Harry's eyes to a new passion - sharing her knowledge and giving back to the local hair care industry from her wealth of experience.
“Working with local clients, I was really shocked and saddened to see, probably the most amount of hair damage I have ever come across, such as alopecia (baldness) and other effects from bad hair experiences – especially among the younger clients!”
“The way people are doing things now; it’s like the love has been lost in hair styling. I am all about adding value and giving back. Let’s go back to the basics and really love our customers’ hair, the safe way. I believe in the hair industry in Trinidad and I know that we can make our name worldwide. It's not about being selfish. It's all about each one teach one."
This month, Harry will be bringing her special brand of short hair artistry to two weekends of luxury hair workshops entitled, "#ShortHairRocksTT”, which will cover two topics - Short Hair Artistry as well as Hair Extension Placement. The theme of the workshops will celebrate the uniqueness of Trinbagonian women, their style and their love of variety and distinct Caribbean flair for hair.
Workshop patrons will be wined and dined at the luxurious Estate 101 venue and those attending weekend one will also receive a House of Kathy #ShortHairRocksTT Styling Manual, exclusively available at the Short Hair Artistry workshop.
