New York, NY–(October 31, 2015) - Earl Beckles of E&J Productions and the Dream Team mas band will present their Caribbean mas costume in NYC’s 42nd annual Village Halloween Parade presented by NY1.
Beckles' featured costume, entitled Out of Darkness, is a silvery, fantastical character, with a wingspan of 16-feet. The interior has a depth of 20 feet, in which Beckles stands to hold and maneuver the costume as if it were dancing. The entire costume is 50 feet tall. The award-winning costume recently placed 1st in Brooklyn and Trinidad and Tobago’s Caribbean carnival and festival.
Beckles and his team, who design and distribute costumes from their mom and pop barbershop in Far Rockaway, have designed costumes annually for the last 15 years. Known for his elaborate large costume displays in the Brooklyn West Indian American Labor Day Parade, Beckles has been invited to participate in New York'sVillage Halloween,Chinese New Year, and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
“We’ve been designing costumes for years. To know that our cultural costume connects to so many other parades and festivities is a testament to the universality of artistry and design,”Beckles states.
The Village Halloween Parade’s 2015 theme, Shine a Light, beautifully complements Beckles’ costume presentation, Out of Darkness, which represents hope in man’s journey from the dark ages to the age of light and technology.
