Thanksgiving Strategies
So You Don't Mess Up
Your Trinidad Carnival
Preparation Program
==============
Look. Here are the facts.
You CANNOT outrun a bad diet no more than you can "walk off" the bad food that you have eaten. I laugh when I watch people stuff themselves and then say, "I'mma go walk some of this off." You cannot eat 1700 calories in one sitting and then walk off 350 and call it even!! LOL!!!!!
It doesn't work like that.
Here's what I would suggest that you do before you act like a complete ass at the dinner table during thanksgiving.
Number One: Workout before you eat. As a matter of fact at the beginning of the day. Or in the morning some time. Even if it is something as simple as a 30 or 60 minute walk -- DO IT!
Number Two: Consume about a 1/2 gallon of water before eating. And I don't mean, drink a 1/2 a gallon right before you sit down to eat. I mean, drink about a 1/2 gallon throughout the morning and the day before you sit down to have your meal
Number Three: Make your plate as COLORFUL as possible. Have the things that you like in moderation, but make sure you are getting some vegetables on your plate.
Number Four: You WILL eat again so do not act like you are not. Meaning, DO NOT LOAD UP YOUR PLATE. Eat sensibly. Stop. Enjoy a nice dessert and then STOP.
And lastly....
Number Five: When you are done with dinner. Head outside and walk for 30 minutes. Do this while calling some family members or friends to wish them Happy Thanksgiving but get this done. No matter how warm or cold it is outside.
And most importantly.......
Don't allow the Day of Thanks to turn into a Week of bad food choices. If you fall of the horse, get back on. Do not continue to eat poorly.
Here's what we are doing on Thanksgiving.
We are working out. We are eating. I have made two salads. One is a strawberry and spinach salad, the other is romaine lettuce, onions, garlic and tomatoes. The salad dressing is a zero calorie dressing from Walden Farms. We are also having vegetarian baked beans and black beans. There will also be a dish of sauteed vegetables. The vegetables being sauteed are onions, green bell peppers, yellow bell pepper, red bell peppers, garlic, and tomatoes. We will also have brown rice and we ordered a whole Jerk Turkey Caribbean restaurant in support of the Caribbean businesses in our area.
We also will have raw cashews, almonds and dried cranberries on the table.
We are keeping it healthy and colorful!!
No macaroni pie. No sweet potato pie. No gravy. No cake. No pigeon peas and rice.
None of that.
But we are focusing on giving thanks and family... not the food.
However, if food is your focus, The Carnival Doctor is knocking you and your choice, I'm just providing some advice of what you can add to your day and telling you a little bit about mine.
The bottom line is this....
Enjoy your family, create memories and give thanks.
