October 6, 2014 – Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago -- Trinidad and Tobago’s foremost modern contemporary dance company, the Noble Douglas Dance Company Inc. (NDDCI), will earn yet another accolade as it presents its 30th anniversary dance season, TEETH. The dance company will celebrate the momentous milestone with a presentation of primarily new works performed by a cast of apprentices, seasoned company members and alumni. The production opens on Saturday October 18, 2014 closing on Sunday October 19, 2014 at Queen’s Hall.
Pioneer choreographer, Noble Douglas, founded the NDDCI in 1985 with a vision to use the body for the expression of a Caribbean aesthetic in modern contemporary dance. Over the years, the seminal dance company has been a major contributor to the cultural landscape of Trinidad and Tobago having toured locally, regionally and internationally on stages in the United States, Southern Africa and the Caribbean. The NDDCI continues to nurture and work with many luminaries in dance including internationally based performers, Jeffrey Carter (Norway), David Byer (Norway), Richard Lessey (Norway), Christel De Souza (UK), Natalie Rogers (USA), Nadine Mose (USA/Trinidad and Tobago), Penelope Kalloo (USA) and Terry Springer (Venezuela).

Over the years, NDDCI has also cultivated innovative and dynamic collaborative projects including Black Burlesque (revisited), an eight year alliance between NDDCI and two international dance companies – post-modernist, Reggie Wilson’s, New York-based Fist and Heel Performance Group and Zimbabwe’s a cappella group known for its gumboot and African dance choreography, Black Umfolosi. This project culminated with the 2003 New York premiere of Black Burlesque (revisited) followed by its 2 ½ month tour of seven states in the United States. The company followed this successful international tour with six performances in the Trinidad Theatre Workshop’s 2005 production of Derek Walcott’s musical, STEEL. NDDCI has also made its mark on stage with collaborative works with select companies such as the Marionettes Chorale and most recently with its 2013 dance season, Vecinos…we are Neighbours, which featured Venezuela’s leading contemporary dance company, Fundación Coreoarte.

Tickets cost $150.00 and are available at Crosby’s Music Centre, from members of the NDDCI and from October 14, 2014, at the Queen’s Hall box office.
