West Indian American Day Carnival Association presents the 47th Annual New York Caribbean Carnival
Caribbean cultural festivities feature outdoor dance concerts, colorful Carnival costumes, culture, cuisine, music and competitions, all culminating in WIADCA’s annual Caribbean Carnival Parade – Brooklyn’s “Greatest Show on Earth”!
Brooklyn, NY -- On Thursday, August 28th, right in the heart of historical Crown Heights, Brooklyn, the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) kicks off NYC’s annual New York Caribbean Carnival 2014. Featuring highly anticipated music concerts showcasing internationally acclaimed performing artists, masterfully crafted traditional costumes, Caribbean cuisine, art and cultural parades, all bringing together a rich heritage, while celebrating the many contributions of the Caribbean diaspora to the world. Commencing on Thursday, August 28th with an inaugural presentation at the Brooklyn Museum (200 Eastern Parkway & Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY), NY Caribbean Carnival 2014 events will run through Monday, September 1st (Labor Day), ending with North America’s largest street parade/dance party on Eastern Parkway from 11:00am – 6:00pm.
“As we present Brooklyn’s greatest show on earth, WIADCA is working very hard to bring a safe, enjoyable and celebratory multi-cultural experience!” says WIADCA’s president, William R. Howard.

Caribbean Woodstock: A Celebration of Light

Join us as we kick off our Caribbean Carnival festivities with popular artists from the Caribbean. Confirmed acts include Skinny Banton, Adrian Dutchin, Problem Child, Ricardo Drue, Mickey, Zouk & the Gang, Statement, Surette Bon Bon, Mr Famous, Boodoosingh Tassa Drummers and Jamaica’s own Tarrus Riley! Complete with traditional Ole’ Mas and Individual costume competitions, Caribbean Woodstock celebrates a new vision while paying homage to traditional folklore

Stay In School—Youth Fest/College Fair – 11:00am
The Stay in School Youth Fest is a free program that presents an opportunity for young people to showcase their artistic talents on stage to approximately 3,000 attendees. It also highlights the values of our immigrant community which encourages our youth to pursue their education.
Brass Fest 2014
Doors Open: 6:00pm; Showtime: 8:00pm – 3:00am
Featuring the finest Caribbean musicians/acts all in one outdoor party, the signature Brass Fes concert/party features direct from Ghana for the first time Blakk Rasta, Teddyson John and the TJ Project, Red Fyah Band, Skinny Fabulous, Lyrikal, Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy, Rayzor, Da Big Show and headliner Machel Montano HD. Cool Caribbean vibes and high energy provided by DJ’s Sounds 4 Life, Barrie Hype, and Spice!

Kiddies Carnival Parade (route begins at Schenectady and Eastern Parkway)
9:00am – 3:00pm
Look out for the annual Kiddies Carnival parade winding through the heart of Crown Heights and ending at the Brooklyn Museum grounds. Show your support for our youth presenters as they honor their culture.
Panorama 2014
Doors Open: 6:00pm; Showtime: 8:00pm – 3:00am
Enjoy the rhythms of sweet steelband music as the finest steel orchestras in NY gather to present a competitive steelband show down to win the 2014 Panorama Championship crown.
Sunday, August 31st
Dimanche Gras: The Legends Are Coming!
Doors Open: 6:00pm; Showtime: 7:00pm – 1:00am
Join WIADCA for the final concert, Dimanche Gras! This concert features the King and Queen of the Bands competition, winners from previous nights, and featured performances from Caribbean living legends, The Mighty Sparrow, King David Rudder, Lord Nelson along with Lima Calbio, Leon Coldero, Lennox Picou, Jeromy Rodriguez, T&T Junior Soca Monarch 2014, Something Positive Dance Troupe and the Sunshine Band!
