POS, Trinidad (Sonique Solutions) – The blessings of the season keep rolling in for Soca artiste Ricardo Drue. Still riding high on the successful release of his Carnival 2014 groovy Soca track “Socaholic” the Antiguan-born singer-songwriter has once again been recruited as a frontline vocalist for world renowned Soca outfit Roy Cape All Stars.
Ricardo who has written songs for many artistes in Antigua, Grenada, St. Thomas, Dominica and the US brings his unique R&B/Soca flair to the All Stars and has already excited audiences by his renditions at the band’s corporate Christmas gigs.
The seasoned performer has had previous stints with Roy Cape in 2012 and Imij and Company in 2010 and is excited to be a part of the T&T C2K14 action.
Although born in Antigua, Drue spent his formative years in T&T and is appreciative for his exposure to his Trinidadian heritage and culture. He is committed to exposing the indigenous music of the Soca capital and believes that the genre is very close to a major international breakthrough.
The versatile performer who has goals of working with artistes such as Destra, Blaxx and international hit maker Neyo shared, “Ever since I can remember I wanted to be an entertainer. I was always singing, writing and dancing around the house, and that passion just kept burning and led me to this path. Anyone that knows me can tell you I am an R&B/ Pop fan but Soca was always in me. I felt that I could help take our culture to the world so I followed my heart”.
“My short-term goals are to have a successful and positive Christmas and Carnival 2014, however, my long-term goals are to continue building my “ID” brand and eventually turning that into a revenue generating business as Jay Z did with Roca-wear. I also aspire to make Ricardo Drue a household name worldwide; I want to be known as one that did many great things for my culture”.
Drue who anticipates a triumphant Carnival season for himself and the band is also currently in the midst of planning a music video for his single “Socaholic” which in recent weeks has garnered steady rotation on local and regional airwaves.
Socaholics will have ample opportunities to see Ricardo Drue with Roy Cape All Stars as the band is booked solidly at several engagements throughout the entire Carnival 2014 season.
