With the fourth edition of Maracas Cooler fete, Soul Sisters and friends decided to venture back to Volume 2 where the initial dream became a reality. Outfitted with an ever so colorful beach theme that included beach balls, umbrellas, neon air beds and we can’t forget the Maracas girls, we see why this fete is a staple in NY and always a sold out event.
From coffin sized, to mini, to blow up coolers there wasn’t a size that did not make an appearance. However, the showstopper of the night was the shopping cart that made its way inside the fete fully stocked with a puncheon rum punch that had you begging for more.
In a matter of minutes the yard reached capacity and we forgot we were in a yard and not at the beach; every inch of the yard was packed. Between the rhythm section, Close Connections, Pantrin Vibes, Anonymous and Back to Basics the crowd was hyped to the point that the djs were chanting for more people to get on top their coolers. I’m not sure if it was the vibe or the alcohol or maybe both but there was never a dull moment. From people being tote out the fete like luggage, to those falling or stumbling off coolers, Maracas TUN UP LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was nice to see men and women in their most stylish beach attire and really get into the spirit of what Maracas is really about. With beach balls being tossed around the party, alcohol flowing, everyone having a good time and Close Connections reminding us of being on Maracas beach Ash Wednesday the cool, relaxed atmosphere was definitely felt. A nice added touch I noticed was the Bartenura neon lit cocktail glasses that were laid out on the bar for patrons to pour their drinks in. It was nice to see the flicker of lights from these glasses thorough out the crowd. DJ Bird, Picky Eaters and Clarke Promotions had an array of food that definitely complimented the event and from the looks of the lines at each food station and the smiles on the faces of those devouring the food, its safe to say the food choices were a hit.
As all good things must come to an end so did Maracas and perhaps it happened at the right time because with the heat and humidity, alcohol and hot tempers in a small space we know anything can happen. Yes there were a few incidents that occurred but that did not stop the fun and thankfully it happened as we were heading home.
Soul Sisters and friends, you definitely made the fourth installment yet another memorable one and I can’t wait to see what you do next year. However, you have definitely out grown the venue and definitely need to find a bigger space. Thank you for producing another great event that will leave us wanting more and reminiscing. Until next year..........
