NEW YORK, NY- August 22, 2012 – On Saturday August 4th, Jamaica Impact Inc.’s (JAMPACT) Annual School Supplies and Toy Drive came to a close when a group of JAMPACT members and volunteers gathered at Transcontinental Express Shippers in Queens, NY, for the packing of the donated supplies and toys.

The volunteers sorted and packed the abundance of items collected for the children at Coles, Crescent Road, Maxfield Park and St Steven’s basic schools in Jamaica. In addition to the organizations adopted schools, JAMPACT plans to also distribute supplies to the Jackson Basic School in Kingston and five computers to Ebenezer Primary School in Manchester. JAMPACT is also donating projectors to the Jamaica Reading Association, Ideal Enhancement Center, Alpha Primary School, Mico Teachers’ College and Jamaica Foundation for Lifelong Learning.

JAMPACT grossed a record ten (10) barrels and five (5) large shipping boxes of supplies and toys. Items collected included backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, coloring books, learning tools, chalk, first aid kits, story books, markers, scissors, glue, rulers, construction paper, computers, teaching aids, among other. These supplies were shipped to Kingston, and we will distribute them to the schools during our Annual Service Trip occurring September 12-18th.

JAMPACT wishes to extend special thanks to Golden Krust Flatbush, Brooklyn, Lollipops Ice Cream & Gelato, Bronx, Laten’s Restaurant, Queens, Golden Krust Sutphin Blvd, Queens and Sam’s Caribbean Marketplace in West Hempstead for serving as drop-off locations for supplies. JAMPACT also wishes to express gratitude to Wisconsin Toys, New York City, Brooks Memorial United Methodist Church in Queens, Central Baptist Church, New York City, John Jay College of Criminal Justice – Jamaica Yahso Club, Daniel Hale Williams Elementary School in Brooklyn, Dr. Mattis, of NYU and Dr. Ahluwalia of Montclair State University, NJ and all who donated school supplies, toys, and cash to our drive. The success of this initiative is largely due to their generosity and willingness to ensure that the children are equipped with the learning tools necessary for their early childhood education.

Special thanks to TransContinental Express Shippers and the members of JAMPACT for their continued commitment and generous sponsorship the 2012 Annual School Supplies and Toy Drive.
