>> View Wet Fete 2012 Gallery Last year I made the mistake of asking “What is a WET FETE without water? “ ...well this year I found out, and thanks to a very pretty girl, the magical term we will use for future reference is ‘SWEAT FETE.’ Now let me be clear from here, the event was in no way horrible, fail or a buss, it was simply, for an event carrying the “sandbox Great Fete Weekend” title, a night that left much to be desired.
I mean the crowd was massive, the drinks were plenty and the names were large: Sqeezy Rankin, Konshens and Beenie Man as the closer. Add a cast of all star DJs and the sand of pigeon point below your feet and you really had a good thing there. The thing is though, when you hear “Great Fete”...good, isn’t good enough. The brand that Sandbox Entertainment has created and sustained for over a decade has continued to draw people from all over the Caribbean and the world and whether or not they enjoyed themselves, I highly doubt that ‘sweat fete’ blew anyone’s mind.
Maybe I’m expecting too much or maybe I’m on a hunt for insane vibes to feel my inner bacchanalist, but either way, I didn’t feel it, and the small number of pics says it all.I’m pretty young, so I have more than hope for the future, but all I’m asking is for Tobago to really have something that’s outside of Carnival that is not a nightclub.
Just one event that leaves everyone who comes speechless, exhausted, and one more rum & coke away from alcohol poisoning. The one event where relationships with start, and many more will end (because you never get de horn pass for the night) and where the stories to tell you kids will be made. With some extra heads at the planning table, a few more big sponsors and some really out-de-box thinking, I honestly think that Sandbox Great Fete Weekend can be that event. I mean...So much vibes that people skip Crop Over plans and see no reason to party again until Carnival. Call me crazy or just call me...
