Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. July 16, 2012 -- Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago celebrate 50 years of self-governance in August and with that, one promotional entity in T&T is making moves to blur the lines of separation through the power of music. A representative of Tri-Star Promotions said the combination of both islands’ musical families who are also considered royalty across the world in their respective genres, is his gift to both nations and the people who’ve helped empower and build them, over the past 50 years.

The entity will host House of Marley on August 30, one night before Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence. The show will feature the Marley brothers and Soca’s royal family headed by Superblue and further defined by his daughter Fay-Ann Lyons and her husband, Bunji Garlin. Reigning Chutney Soca Monarch King, K.I. is also billed to perform at the Hasley Crawford stadium, as is T&T reggae crooner, Orlando Octave.

Already, there is a lot of talk about the event. Many agree that the cast of entertainers billed to perform will render music to invoke positive energy at a time when such is needed. A small faction has spoken out on the Jamaican inclusion one day prior to T&T’s celebration of its 50th Independence anniversary, however the promotional outfit, which has always stood fast to the promotion of Caribbean connectivity and integration, assures that the concert will be balanced. “ We have the royal family of soca music in Superblue, Fay-Ann and Bunji Garlin and we know that when they come together on stage on this very special night, they will deliver a memorable performance. The concert isn’t an independence concert to say but it does fall within the Independence holiday time and what we are doing is simply giving people who crave good entertainment, a really good, world- class concert event. It was really the only available time for the Marley’s and we have been attempting to get them for some time,” said the spokesperson.

“By promoting harmony though music, especially at a time that will go down in the country’s history, we will be remembered for being leaders of Caribbean cohesion,” the spokesperson continued.

Noting that the Marley brothers are excited to visit Trinidad and Tobago, the representative said they feel honored to be considered for such an epic experience during a truly momentous time in the history of the Caribbean. Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley last appeared on stage in Trinidad in December 2010. Back then he had left a lasting impression among fans of reggae music at the Hasley Crawford Stadium, with most patrons having basked in the positive messages of peace, love and unity.

Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons and Super Blue along with reigning Chutney Monarch King, K.I have vowed to truly represent the country in a special way and so too has young Octave. Organisers say patrons attending the show can expect a few surprises in a showcase that will more than likely leave them with memories to last a lifetime.
