New York, NY – Fresh from a critically acclaimed professional world debut (13th Annual Taste of the Caribbean-Montreal, Canada), join Chef Shorne Benjamin as he continues his in the culinary “tasting” tour entitled - Pour l ‘amour de la nourriture 2012- complete with meet & greet, autograph and Q&A session June 7th, 8th, & 30th , 2012.
Celebrating the scintillating tastes, sights, sounds and diversity of the Caribbean Diaspora, Chef Shorne fuses Caribbean and Thai flavors to feed the masses. Known for his keen sense of flavor, his presentations set-off fireworks in every bite, resulting in an unforgettable culinary climax called “NEW AGE” Caribbean cuisine. For his first time appearing as a guest chef in the 13th Annual Taste of the Caribbean in Montreal, Canada (Sunday, May 27th www.atasteofthecaribbean.ca/chefs.html), Chef Shorne presented 5 star culinary creations alongside mentor and award-winning Chef Theo Gumbs (USVI).
Continuing his Pour l ‘amour de la Nourriture 2012 tour, Chef Shorne appears next during Caribbean Week - Thursday, June 7th at Bloomingdales (59th Street & Lexington Avenue - 12-2pm & 3-5pm), the annual Rum & Rhythm Expo - Friday, June 8th at Tribeca 360 (10 Desbrosses Street – 6:30 - 11pm) with Chef Richard Baugh of Jamaica’s Half Moon Hotel (presented by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and supported in part by the St. Lucia Tourism Board) and at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum (BCM) during the 2nd Annual Kiddies Caribbean Fiesta program entitled Caribbean Delights (145 Brooklyn Avenue - 2:30 –3:00pm) - pre-registration is required for this workshop, to register/RSVP (by June 21) please call Ms. Smith 718-735-4400x321.
Hailing from the sensual isle of St. Lucia, Shorne was always an astute businessman. As the founder of the popular NY entertainment company, Shorblu Events (May 2007), Shorne produced many “stand-out” events in NYC & Miami. In 2011, he took a hiatus from the production business to develop his passion in Culinary Arts (full-time). Since graduating from the prestigious French Culinary Institute, he has been fortunate to work under renowned Chef’s Jean - Georges Vongerichten of the ABC Restaurant and Theo Gumbs; he has also worked at Maloney & Porcelli, the well-known contemporary Italian restaurant –Falai (all located in NYC).
