The Caribbean American Heritage Foundation and the Rhythm Foundation will celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 at the ArtsPark at Young Circle in Hollywood, Florida from 4pm-11pm. This celebration will be hosted by WPLG Local 10 Weekend Anchor Neki Mohan and NBC 6 Miami Weekend Anchor Sharon Lawson. Live performances include renowned Calypsonian David Rudder backed by Leon Codero and Code 868. Music will be provided by DJ Majestic. Haitian visual artist Roland Mecklembourg will display his “Universal Xplosion of Heart” exhibit in the ArtPark Gallery. The event is free. Free parking is also available in Downtown Hollywood , and for attendees convenience valet parking will be available at the ArtsPark.
“We invite everyone to come out and celebrate culture and heritage of the Caribbean. This family event has something for everyone and we are excited to partner with the Rhythm Foundation, City of Hollywood and the City of Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency to raise awareness about the contributions that Caribbean American people have made to our country,” states Executive Director Asa Sealy, Caribbean American Heritage of Florida, Inc.
This free Caribbean cultural event is poised to be a premiere annual family event. Events for the day include: the Caribbean Airlines Travel Expo; Kids Zone, Caribbean Food Village, Caribbean Alcohol Tasting Experience, Caribbean Arts and Craft, Live Tassa, Folk Dance and Cultural Performances.
