“MISS MILES RESURRECTS AGAIN!”
Presented by
Lordstreet Theatre in association with Trevor Jadunath

Miss Gene Miles is strutting in her high heels across to the Naparima Bowl stage from May 25th to the 27th as her spirit returns to re-live her story! “I heard you call my name. I obliged.” The award winning actress, Cecilia Salazar plays the patriotic public servant, Gene Miles in this one-woman show and continues to deliver a star quality performance from show to show. If you have not experienced what others have boasted of, then you must be at the Naparima Bowl from 8pm on May 25th to 27th, 2012! Secondary school students will be treated to a free show on May 25th at 10:30a.m.

According to Helena Allum of Catholic News, “This production changed the fabled character into a very real one with all the doubts and questions about life that we all have. It reminded us how much mauvais langue and judgment about other people based on rumours can cause them to be eaten alive in the streets. There are those who like Miss Miles are persecuted for doing what they know to be right. Lordstreet Theatre production of Miss Miles is well worth seeing.”

The play which is written and directed by acclaimed playwright and director, Tony Hall promises to captivate you and transport you back to the 1960s and the events that led to a commission of inquiry of what was known as the “Gas Station Racket,” the struggles and ridicule endured by Gene Miles, leading up to her tragic passing.

“The drama of Miss Miles is the tragedy of Gene Miles (1930-1972), a woman confident in the power of truth only to be defeated by the ugly truth about power. As an autobiography, the story begins and ends with her. Death seals her lips. Except when, in an act of mercy, Hall allows her one last future laugh, a moment of triumph in the signature spirit of Gene Miles.” Sunity Maharaj, T&T Review

All must bear witness to the life of Gene Miles; “through her eyes, we encounter the irony of the baptismal promise, the innocence of the child she was, the early spunk… the blossoming of the Catholic girl into a woman at the height of her powers of persuasion, until the dramatic descent into the void of nothingness.” She has heeded the call once again and will appear at the Naparima Bowl from May 25th. Tickets cost $150. University students pay $100 with a valid student ID.
