OH BACCHANAL!!! Mas for Carnival is one thing, but you see J’ouvert....REAL BACCHANAL
Hearing so much about the band last year I decided to spend J’ouvert morning with The Shade Green Jumbies. Inside from about 1AM I decided to grab a bite because once things got started, there wasn’t going to be any eating till about lunch time. Chow Chow’s BBQ chicken and wedges did just the trick.
At about 4AM things started to get in gear, the music truck was late so the time was spent getting all painted up and getting the heads nice with some ‘special’ jello shots...ah the things Puncheon can do... I managed to stay pretty paintless until one girl decided that I was just to clean and gave me a nice base coat from hair to toe.
Once the truck had arrived it was on the road, drinks truck, check, ice, check, chaser, check, bucket, check? The vibes was good right through all over the road that is at least until we bounced up on other bands and had to squeeze into a lane. Once again there were some newlyweds in the party and they were enjoying every minute of it. I can’t think of a better way to start a happy life with the one you love than being covering in paint and dancing to soca until the sun comes up with a cold stage and a rum & coke.
I would be lying if I said I remembered everything that happened that morning, in fact, when I look at the pictures, half of the stuff I see doesn’t even make sense.... Remember, if it’s anything like Hangover, it was bess.
