The time we all waiting for - Jouvert Morning with ah bottle spoon ... this was my first year with Shades "The J'Ouvert Band" and it definitely turned out to be a good choice! People came from home or straight from a fete (Mania @ Country Club) ... it's just a matter of walking with your "jouvert clothes" in the car. There are a lot of jouvert bands in T&T, but my choice was Shades this year (yes, I said it again) … safe and secure parking was available for all patrons and the meeting time for revellers was 4AM at King George V park just outside CIC grounds.
From the time you arrived breakfast was being served under the comfort of a tent and the drinks truck was serving anything the heart desired. After fulling the belly, it was time to palance. The band took off at 5AM promptly heading towards QRC then into Maraval with only girls “bubbling” and “dropping it low”... what a way to start it off... VIBES VIBES VIBES!! Sammy could be seen in the bar workin hard… no bubbling for him .. lol …
Big up to Khadija and her friends for getting dirty and helping me get dirty as well. The DJs really made the whole J'ouvert on D Road experience by pulling some of the latest soca hits like "Bucket"- Swappi which influenced a lot of people to walk with their paint buckets, "Mr. Fete" - Machel, "Jab (No Pain)" - Iwer and "Miss Behave" (better know as "Drop on the Ground and Roll") by Fay-Ann Lyons to some super old school soca tunes by Super Blue and even classics like Machel Montano's "Big Truck"; and of course not forgetting Mr. "Wotless" himself Kes and Mr. "Bacchanalist" Kerwin Du Bois.
The entire J'Ouvert experience was wonderful from the route, the djs and the vibes , the bar service and of course .... 'THE GIRLS'... amazing! When it all came to an end I got the feeling that people did not want to go home... lol … from facial reactions they looked tired and wishing 2013 Shades J'Ouvert Band experience would come soon!
Big shout out to Sammy, thanks for having the Trini Jungle Juice family on the inside.
