It was a weekend of excitement crunch time to Monday and Tuesday Mas. Now at the stroke of twelve a.m. Carnival Sunday morning everybody knows it’s all about Breakfast Parties. So you could have been coming from a J’ouvert Party, Boat Ride, All-Inclusive de Panorama Finals de next event Carnival Sunday Morning is a Breakfast Party. Now there are a few to choose from but this year I made my way down to “SHADES” held by Misty Ridge Events. This was the first time the event was held at The Normandie Hotel 'Under The Trees' after being birthed at The Ranch in Santa Cruz. From the onset parking was taken care of, patrons parked at the park just a stone throw away from the hotel and on entering the venue most if not all gravitated toward the breakfast that was being served. Sitting and enjoying bake and shark, bake and eggs, corn beef, franks, hot dogs, soup etc.
Then it was on to the Sunday morning palance Dj Red held it down and just as they said when the sun comes up the shades come out. Michael was seen handing out shades and hats with excited patrons rushing to collect. I’ll say one thing though nationalities were well represented in SHADES from Jamaica, St. Lucia, LA, Brooklyn but I believe the Bajans where in the most numbers at this breakfast party. Lil Rick then took to the stage performing hits such as "Jones and Wukup", "Right Now", "Work", "Go Down", "Keep Talking" ….. Lil Rick had an energetic performance as expected. Even a few ladies came on stage to give him some assistance ... big up those girls from Jamaica - Tanisha and the crew, somebody say she is Vybz Kartel's girlfriend.
Ezel, Jon Boy and Dj Dan came on set taking things to another level must give it up to Dj Dan though mixing ah tecno or what you would call a dub step into a soca from Bunji mad!! This display of talent only mad way for another talented entertainer Mr. Kerwin Dubois who flattened the place with hits like "Bacchanalist", "Runaway", "I Am Soca", "Baddist" and "Make Room". SHADES BREAKFAST PARTY 2012 was an experience ... I'm looking forward to 2013.
Big shout out to Michael and Jordanna on this one!!!
