(Kingston, Jamaica – February 22, 2012) – The fêting and sweating begins this Friday February 24 at 8:00 p.m. with the first in the weekly soca fete series, Bacchanal Fridays, at the new Mas Camp located at Stadium North. The appropriately themed “Lift Off” party will officially introduce socaphiles to the music of the 2012 season, and the offerings of this very spacious and tastefully designed venue.
This “Lift Off” party will introduce some new additions to Bacchanal Fridays, particularly the new offerings for VIPs. VIPs will now have a specially designated, free parking area, a clearly marked entrance gate and VIP-only bathroom facilities as part of the overall VIP experience. VIP tickets for this event also include food and drink. As a special offering this Friday only, VIPs can also lyme in a special skybox from which they can enjoy the party while taking in a breathtaking view of the surrounding areas and the cool breeze from the mountains. While partying, patrons can also view the nine “Future Shock” costume offerings including from headline sponsor Digicel and other major sponsors Pure Country, Smirnoff, Ammar’s, Appleton, Jamaica Observer and FAME 95 FM.
The rhythms and vibes of the night will be provided by DJ Back to Basics from Trinidad and local music masters Sparkles Disco and DJ Bambino. Bambino and his alter ego ‘Trever Off Key’ are returning fresh from Trinidad’s Carnival celebrations having played on the Island People truck on Carnival Tuesday, and will be bringing his trademark style and mixing to the party.
DJ Back to Basics was born Ricardo Gomez and has been in love with music since 5 years of age. Born in the United States, his early musical influences were jazz and soca-based. Gomez moved to Trinidad in his teen years where his interest in the power and control of deejays grew. As he became more convinced that this was his calling, Gomez returned to the USA to complete his degree, and began to play at an increasing number of parties alongside Sound City, a sound system from Brooklyn. After many years of this partnership, Gomez branched out on his own in 1998 with his Back to Basics name and brand. Since then, he has been in high demand as a top Caribbean DJ combining the vibe and energy of his experiences in the USA and the Caribbean.
Party-goers can enjoy the Camp’s many offerings this Friday for $1000 and $2000 pre-sold for general and VIP admission respectively. Bacchanal Fridays will be taking place this and every Friday at the new Mas Camp until March 30, 2012.
