The Soul Train Music Awards for 2011 have nominated KES THE BAND for an award for the category of Best Caribbean Performance for their monster hit
“Wotless”. Wotless, written by KES and Kerwin Du Bois won Kes the Band the title of Groovy Soca Monarch one of the most prestigious competitions in the Caribbean. The songs catchy lyrics and great melodies had the fans singing it word for word at each concert over the last 8 months.
Other Nominees in this category include:
“Man Down” - Rihanna ,
“Summer Time” – Vybz Kartel “Delilah” – Movado and
“Bend Over” – Machel Montano. All nominees are incredible artists in the Best Caribbean Performance category. Kees Dieffenthaller stated he was incredibly proud to have been nominated for this award amongst some of the top artists out of the Caribbean. “It is a proud time for Trinidad & Tobago, and it is just the beginning”. The band released their album WOTLESS in February 2011 and a second album called Stereotype in August 2011. Stereotype brings out the Island Pop style of the band showing how incredibly versatile this group is.
The Soul Train Music Awards honors the best in Black music and entertainment and will air on November 27.
Leading up to the nomination the band had appeared on FOX 5 Good Day America (New York) in September wowing the presenters (who stated they were the best band to have appeared live on the channel) and viewers. They also were the first Soca/Island Pop group to release Iphone and Andriod Apps.
