TnT Soca artiste Destra Garcia spanking brand-new release for the 2009 Soca season "Sassiness". This is her follow up to "Hott", which continues to burn up the local charts (it's also one of our personal favourites!).
Destra and her band is currently touring simultaneously working on her new album 2009. Fans have a lot in store for them with her new direction and musical rythms bound to rip the charts up for 2009.

DESTRA!!! My girl you have done it again, you have kicked off carnival 2009 with a BANG that will never die. The songs are hott (no pun intended), the new website is hot, and you are even hotter. Keep it up, and when are you coming to Vancouver so we can experience you first hand. I can't keep coming to Toronto and all over the world to see you. Wait, who am I kidding you're worth every penny.

As a French West Indian all I gotta say is BON BAGAY! Love the Kompa-Zouk-Cadence mix. Martinik Gwada Haiti DA St. Lucia Saint Martin, French Guyana gonna blow dis one up for sure. Destra cherie this is gonna destroy the road oui. Oh by the way ... I Dig It!

Hear nuh. I Love me some Destra ya know, and I must admit that when I first heard the tune I wasn't heavy into it; but with the 2nd listen I have to say that it ain't bad at all. Its different, and I could see me giving a good slow wine with dis one here. Lol.

I had not been to T&T for 14 years before last year (Super Blue you rule), and I fell in love with the country all over again, I booked my ticket when I landed back in the UK.

First of all let me say that kiya doesn't know good music what so ever.....anywho.other than that........i honestly love that song and would always lover any and everythign that destra garcia sings.even bla bla blak sheep i wouild sing it tooooo ............destra keep up the work always pleace i always depend on u to bring it crop over and can't wait intil u come barbados again.i promiose to be up front so u can't miss me singing all ur songs word for word................love ya

In the mix for Road March 2009, Machel - Rave is leading the pack (at the moment), even though Patrice has the same beat with Sway in the Mas, which will be in the the Mix, Rave is leading, Destra's Sassiness and Bacchnal will be excellent Parties tunes, as well Rum and Roti and Bum Bum Ville, (which is currently the 2009 version of Gal Farm) Killing the Fetes and Parties will be KMC and 'I am Not Drunk' (can't wait to see that dance to this and preform it also), Fayann will not benefit from been pregnant at this time Heavy T, you mean Heavy B(for Belly), Fireman, should of left your beautiful wife alone this year and allow her to preform with you, not sure what will happen with you, as you music is TOOOOOOO fast for road Mask, but Maybe Soca Monach again, with you 2 sap's and that 9 inch Banana. NOT in the mix is Iwer George, letting Gladiator go from you 91.9 Radio station may have cost you listeners, as you can for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for get, as far as you tune Ready goes............ guess you were right your perception of music and artiste is one that actually shows intellect guess fayann did not benifit from being pregnant so much so destra is now pregnant lol i like u you are one smart person keep talking maybe one day youll be wrong seeing as everything you said was right on the money oh >>> didnt heavy belly win almost all the titles for 2009 wow you sure can call it wonder what your predictions are for 2010 lol seeing as you are always right that is hahahahhahha. lol

This lady has proven, with or without a title, to be a National Treasure of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago. With every song, Sassiness included, she does SHE prove her rights to the title "Queen of Soca." I will admit it took about 2 listens to fully appreciate the musicallity, lyrical intelligence and unique style and sound of this song, but after the 2nd listen I feel in love with Sassiness.

Ok, (part 1) had to summaries Trinidad 2009, sorry I am so late, but I landed back the Friday morning after Ash Wednesday and I have been working ever since (Need a holiday to get over a holiday)
Anyway, Road March IT IS A FIX...................Meet Super Blue, was not the best tune this Carnival, and everyone who was there, on the road and at the Fete's and parties know this to be the truth.......... Winner should of been Destra and Bacchanal, followed by Blaxxs and thirsty (that tune was deep) Fay Ann came in 3rd and that is been generous Road March is all about the Band leaders and the promoters, and NOT the people on the road. Before these people got paid off, we the mask people jumped up, and what every got the biggest JUMP, that was what was played on the stage and that is the way it should be Panorama Congratulations to Silver Stars, they deserved to win. Phase 2 and Montano, tried to pull all the tricks, even the rabbit out of the bag, and by the way Mr Sharp, your son cannot dance......teach him nah....... Anyway, I have to go.................. |

Well where do I start, do I start with this recession? And the fact that the actual price to get a flight to the Island of OiI and Music is not TOO bad, but is is the TAXES, that is killing us? Or do I start with the point that if we do get the back home the prices, to play (mask) or even get into the Parties have gone to the point of been RIDICULOUS?
Maybe this is not the forum for any of that? I promised to get back you with what happened for 2009. I have been back to my photo's, DVD"s and CD's and I have to conclude the following 1. Road March was a toss up between Blaxx and Destra, NO WAY should Fay Ann won Road March. 2. Fay Anne and Bunji, instead of getting the great man on stage to embarrass himself and you (his family) get him some help, as ever show I went to I was ashamed, as I know what he has done for Trinidad and her Carnival, he is a legend........But he must not been seen in this way 3. The Pan men, congratualtions to you, for getting the result right, for the 1st time in over 3 years, Silver Star were excellent, and Len Sharp amd your Phase 2 crew, you are good, but you were not good enough to 'share licks' this year, buy Boy Boy was a nice tune 4. I am not Drunk, will be the tune best remember for 2009, simple but nice. 5 Macfarlane yet again for Band of the year, but....................He mus admit to having MANY influences from Minshall, but great none the less 6 The government found money to hide 'John John' behind brick walls so Obama (who I am very proud of as the 1st Black to rule the morder world) could not see our poor, but they are poor people all over the world, why hid ours???? 7. ash Wednesday is BEACH Wednesday with Bake and Shark for Lunch and dinner............ Would I go again for 2010, just let me tell you this ................How would I know that the taxes are high, if I was not putting away my su su money for the best party in the World........... I GONE 6. |

This song is excellent but I have apersonal message for Destra. Two years in a row I caught your show in Atlanta and both times I was very disappointed in the performance. My major peve was your band .. they were to freaking loud .. you were up there killing yourself and I could not make out a thing you were saying in these small rooms. Your band have to turned their volume down. They are not the stars ... you are. Fay-ann and Denise played their tracks and were quite audible. After waiting a half hour u came on and I was excited then disgusted and left after 3 songs. I love u Destra, but u must control your band. Guitar112
