>> View Bananas Cooler Fete 2011 Gallery>> View Grenada Spice Mas 2011 CoverageAfter being stranded in Trinidad for hours on my way to Grenada, what better way to celebrate my arrival in the Spice Isle, other than a Pre-Carnival Cooler Fete at Club Bananas!Bananas is definitely one of the cool-kid spots on the island. Attractive to the young and young at heart crowd, where the St. Georges University students let loose and get down to business.
Sunday night could not have been any better than to hit a fete filled with unlimited liquor and drunken fun in the foam pit. It took time for the cooler fete to kick off, maybe we didn't quite get the ""Grenadian-time"" memo. We chilled out for a bit and marked the scene, its definitely been a lil while since we've been there so it was no biggie. In the wee hours of the morning, the crowd started to pour in. Crews rolled in with their coolers, suitcases and dishpans filled with drinks on ice.
By 2am Bananas was jam packed and we had to find a spot in the back to cool out, then eventually on the rooftop. Those who did not bring their own liquor was able to purchase as many drinks as they please from either the Carib beer bar in the back or the liquor and mixed drinks bar in the pit . . .
Drinks All Ova!New Grenada soca was on HEAVY rotation from beginning to end and the crowd was very receptive.
A few neighboring islands got some play time but the everyone was amped for Carnival the following week.Much love to Bobby, Bananas and the Summercrew family for linkin TJJ each and everytime and allowing us to spill a few drinks before the fetein really start!-Cocoa JuiceDid we forget anything?
