"You'll are the most attentive audience ever!!" were the words of lead singer of the band Maroon 5 Adam Levine. And although for some the concert should have been renamed MaRAIN 5 or Marooned 5, for the most part, the "biggest pop band in the world" delivered a performance that delighted every Maroon 5 fan in the audience.
That being said, we must speak about the concert in general. We love Kes the band, as a matter of fact, we raise our radio volumes whenever the song "wotless" is on, but for an opening act for such a great band Kes was disappointing. The usual charm of lead singer Kees was most present but charm could do so much, and whilst we still love every Kes song, it lacked that extra umph to capture your attention for all 60 minutes of his performance. And in true Kees style, the discarding of a T-Shirt is always a welcoming feature for the fans. In all, the band was on point in terms of music, but maybe they just needed to add something extra to keep our attention…
WE were FLYER than a G6 with the performance of Far East Movement. Initially I had my fears… what other songs have they sung? Would they entertain? Would they be worth it? Then my fears were settled. A fully charged performance from Beginning with spaceship helmets to end with the monkey! These three men had the crowd rocking to Beastie Boys. Some of the kids probably never even heard of the Beastie Boys, but Far East Movement had the adrenaline pumping and those Bmobile lights in the air … Hats off to the group, to keep a Trinidadian crowd entertained for so long with songs that were probably new to many is a great feat and it was well accomplished…
The climax of the show was the big band Maroon 5. Adam entertained in more ways than one. Not only was he on POINT with every note for every song, but he played a guitar, he serenaded the ladies and at times looked like he was seducing the guys! But we know better!!! The band was hype for their entire performance and Adam even mentioned how great the beach was! Always a way to warm our hearts …
To many, the lack of free drinks in the VIP area was not welcomed. Or the fact that food at the venue was overpriced. These complaints are viable … you can’t expect a patron to pay $800 and not even get a water free! It’s a give and take I believe. Hats off to the sound, lighting and decor people, and I must also make mention … for the first time in a while I attended a concert that did not have the patrons in general looking like caged animals. Security and overall organization was well done, and finally … I can’t wait to tune into Star 94.7 FM, T&T’s first HD radio station.
After the concert we then made tracks over to club Zen, where the after party was going to be held. This was a little after the stroke of midnight and by now everyone should have been charged up. On the inside most of the activity was really centered in the VIP section of the club, and so that’s where we set up camp. Shortly after we noticed that the Far East Movement was in the building and attracting much attention. Without a doubt these boys were here to PARTY, and party they did. After a little photo opt and the likes, we too decided to rock back, grab a couple of drinks and enjoy the party. What a night …
