Pure 'Vibes' At SW Limited Leads to Two Sudden Releases
SW Limited is dishin’ it out faster than you’d have thought.
From the studio that has most recently produced a number of Shurwayne Winchester’s hits, among them, last season’s ABX riddim which featured Bunji Garlin, Iwer George, Super Jigga TC and even Bad Gyal Ce’cile- the Arima based production house has again stepped out with an infectiously hot chutney-soca single the team’s calling "Peppa".
Produced at SW Limited Studios by keyboardist and producer, Geiron Mang, the track has been described as a ‘vibes tune’ that unexpectedly came to reality within just two days. “We went for channa pies near to the highway in Arima and I told the lady I wanted slight pepper. When I took the pies back for the fellas at the studio and we started to eat, everybody turned red,” laughed Geiron.
He said the pies were filled with pepper and the band’s sampler, DJ Kamau started running around screaming, “Peppa! Peppa!”
Immediately, Geiron hinted to the group that those words very well could be the hook to a brand new track. He hustled to the production room and started working on beats. From there, both he and Kamau penned lyrics to the song, which Kamau has described as a play on words- emerged, hotter than pepper!
“Peppa is very infectious,” said Kamau, adding that it has a ‘passa passa’ finish, which ideally works for the younger soca audience. He says he’s working on getting dancers to accompany him on stage to give the song that added appeal. “It’s gonna be a show within a show,” assured the young and vibrant new artiste. “I never wanted to be a singer, matter of fact, I never even did vocal training- i’s just vibes,” said Kamau, and vibes has always been at the core of this young band. The team works arduously at SW Limited Studios but their work is often filled with good times and enjoyment. This undoubtedly comes through in the music they offer to the masses. “We always aim to please anyone, even ourselves and the people we’re doing the music for, when we step into the studio,” said Mang. “The vibe at SW Limited Studios is comfortable and relaxing- perfect for making good music,” he asserted.
With carnival in full swing already, these young, passionate musicians are burning the midnight oil, churning out the best there is to offer. Shurwayne himself only this past week completed a Latin influenced Soca-Reggaeton track alongside, Screws.
The track, which is called “Sweet Senorita,” is just another big one to add to the repertoire when the band hits the stage in 2K11.
Shurwayne Winchester has assured that nothing’s going to stand in the way of the band’s aim to bring the best to Carnival 2011, and with such a strong guarantee made, there’s no way he’s about to disappoint.
