Reggae singer Tarrus Riley recently completed what could be said is his best music video to date. Riley teamed up with US based video director Rik Cordero to work on the video for "Superman", a track on his most recent album Contagious.
"Superman" has been generating strong buzz across the Caribbean and this prompted Riley’s decision to shoot a video.
In a release to the media, Riley outlined his reasons for deciding to work the US based director. ‘Rik is friends with one of my friends Mabricio Wilson (owner of the Futbulr clothing line) and he suggested that I try a different look for my next video’, said Riley.
He added ‘Superman has been doing well in the Caribbean islands for over a year now, so based on the feedback from the fans, I decided to get the video done. Persons who are not familiar with the song will get to know it’.
Superman is a remake of an original recording by blue eyed soul singer Robin Thicke. Riley’s version was produced by Dean ‘Cannon’ Fraser.
The video for "Superman" was released to Tempo, as well as television stations in Jamaica last week. The video was also serviced to internet websites across the Caribbean.
Riley’s newest single is the powerful Nyabinghi Pickney in which he pays homage to his African ancestry as well as the national heroes of Jamaica. The track was produced by Roshaun ‘Bay C’ Clarke of TOK for Bombrush Records.
