P.O.S Trinidad -- T&T born, Morvant, Laventille bred. The vocal ability of a true songbird can be heard almost instantaneously through the melodic intonations of a spoken word. This Christmas the world is introduced to a superstar in the making. For Natasha Benjamin, singing comes second nature. She’s perfected the art and as the yuletide season approaches, her mind delves into how, by every stretch of the imagination- she can infect the world with her R&B Christmas offering, “Miss You.”
Penned and produced by Keston Rosales with production assistance from CJ Perez, the track is somewhat reminiscent of a Luther Vandross inspired hit with a touch of feminine sweetness. For Benjamin, this first track opens prospects to capturing a wide audience and having entertained vocally on board the Princess Cruiseline for seven years, singing to a myriad of people, is in no way intimidating. “ I sing almost every genre of music, with classical and Indian music probably being the exception,” she said with a laugh.
Her thirst to enter the professional music landscape, along with an undeniably perfect voice, lends to the possibility that this songbird of soca island, will indeed cross over into the international arena, once heard, promoted and allowed the chance to fly.
At nine-years-old, Natasha knew this was her calling and now, over two decades later, a track that embodies every feeling one can experience during the Christmas season, is her first claim to fame. “ I plan to shoot a video for the track and also do a bit of marketing abroad,” she said, letting it be known that marketing her music, will not stop within local borders.
Natasha Benjamin is focused on flying high above the clouds with a voice that charms and sweeps away all feeling of disdain and disappointment. “ Looking ahead, I hope to one day work with Nadia Batson and Shurwayne Winchester,” she exclaimed. For Natasha Benjamin, words stimulate action and for that reason, you shouldn’t be too shocked if you hear her voice in the months ahead alongside one of her favourite artistes.
