With over half a million hits on YouTube, his hit single “In Front Ah Meh” continues to be a favourite among Soca and music lovers all around the world. In just a little over three years, Umi carved his niche in the Soca Industry after winning the American Idol-like Synergy TV "Soca Star" contest in Trinidad, 2007 - since then his success has grown immensely and he is yet to slow down.

Umi’s most recent releases “Naughty Shortie” & “Heya D Winin' Chant” promises to be show stoppers as well and follow or very well exceed the success of “In Front Ah Meh”. The tantalizing lyrics, sweet vocals and well crafted video falls nothing short of the expectations of his fans. This was proven when fans from as far as Belgium, Australia & Canada entered his I ♥ UMI ™ Facebook Fan Contest that will see one winner walk away with a recording deal!

Umi Marcano, now known as just UMI, was born on May 19th, 1988, and was raised in the small town of St James, Trinidad. His talent was discovered at the age of three when his sister asked him to sing a lullaby he was fooling around with. Although his talent was known by many, Umi’s career only began when he entered the Synergy TV Soca Star Competition. The competition which was modelled after the American Idol Competition saw Umi as a favourite from beginning to end. He was known as the "people's baby", eventually going on to win the competition.

From the moment Umi debuted to the present, he has continued to dominate in the Soca industry, with hits such as "Turn It Around", “In Front Ah Meh” and "Flavor For Love" which scored internationally on Vh1's Flavor of Love TV show. When his hit single "Move That Body" stormed the local airwaves, Soca Megastar Machel Montano declared that "... Umi is so versatile!.. he is definitely the next best thing!...", what happened next was history- Umi became and remains an active member of the Machel Montano HD Band- the number one Soca band in the world!

Umi also has aspirations of being seen soon on the Global entertainment circuit. When asked about his future music plans Umi said “I am currently working on some major tracks and collaborations with Machel Montano the King of Soca, I am also entering the R&B and Hip-Hop Market while retaining our Soca culture.” He is currently working on his highly anticipated debut album set to release in December 2010.
