Rotary Club Fete 2010 Review

In the heat of the carnival activities and fetes, Rotary Club also hosted a fete of their own. Held on Sunday 8th at Port Louis, this fete was an early affair commencing in the afternoon hours.
Now Port Louis is a venue to behold! On one end you are surrounded by luscious greenery, well manicured gardens and an array of vibrant colors from all the various flowers surrounding the place. On the other, it’s the scenic view of the setting sun while standing on the jetty overlooking the ocean, harboring yachts of all descriptions.
The crowd consisted of a wide age bracket ranging from children to adults. Also in the early hours, things pretty much seemed like a family affair. Folks were all socializing and doing the usual meet and greet.
Intermittent live entertainment took place throughout the duration of the fete by various artists, but it wasn’t until after sun set did patrons really put on their dancing shoes. From here on in rags started to wave, hands started to sway and waistlines began to roll. We even saw a man beating some sweet rhythm off an old car rim … talk about vibes!
Things on the inside were sweet, but as the clock approached the hour of 8 PM, we had to begin saying our goodbyes. Although the night was still young, the journey ahead was going to be a long one. With this in mind, we packed up shop and geared up for our next adventure. Dimanche Gras and J’Ouvert here we come …
