In conjunction with the Yelé Foundation, the Haiti We Love You benefit concert will be held on Thursday, September 2nd at the Brooklyn Museum.
Wyclef Jean, will headline the event, and a portion of the proceeds will be given to the Yelé Foundation. At a recent press conference, spokesperson for Yelé, Lexy Brooks announced, “Wyclef is honored to support this event. Yelé is proud to partner with WIADCA and commends the organization for keeping Haiti in its thoughts and acknowledging that they are still in need.” WIADCA’s Haiti We Love You benefit concert was the brainchild of President, Yolanda Lezama-Clark, after launching an awareness march in February for victims of the earthquake.
The relief benefit is jam-packed with performing artists including recently added rising star, Theophilus London, Calypsonian David Rudder, Dancehall artist Serani, Kompa band Carimi, independent artist, Malene Younglao, and soca artist, Kevin Lyttle. Also performing are Kevon Carter, Bud Ramsey, Mastamind, Mental, Bruck Up, Pupa Leendi, Lyndon Lai Tan, and Super P. “These artists are a wonderful representation of the diversity of talent coming from the Caribbean Diaspora, and an excellent example of our theme for this year – “bridging cultures,” says WIADCA spokesperson, Shavonn Doughlin.
