The season is here and it’s our time to PALANCE once more. We no longer have a tabanca for listening to the soca from 2010, we no longer have to open our cupboards everyday and there in the back calling our names, the special box that holds all the memories of “jamming” down d road with no behaviour.
As we arrived at Queen’s Royal College we could see, hear and feel the carnival vibe in the air, as the crowds poured in and we walked through the mini waterfalls, we entered the world of CARNIVAL!!!!
Greeted with the Grey Goose Girls who escorted us to the Grey Goose bar ;)...duck out and pass by the Moko Jumbies, spotted some Blue Devils and AHHHHHH!! The Food Court straight ahead haha, yuh know TTJ loves its belly and at this event we were in heavennnnn. The patrons were really spoilt for choice; this event offered a variety of local cuisines and tasteful appetisers from leading local restaurants; Benihana, Woodford Cafe just to name a few. You had dishes from pelau, geera pork, sushi, doubles, crab and dumpling, roti, pows, wantons, gyros ... Ohh goshhh lets not even start on the drinks. Drinks never stopped flowing ... who doh love an all inclusive party??!!
On to the next ... the Oasis Carnival Experience! Band Leader Jody Ann Herde and her committee have promised the masqueraders of 2011 to quench their “thirst for a new Carnival experience” with the rebirth of the OASIS!!! The presentation started with the sexy trio of Elle Inc. ladies doing and energetic dance that got spectators in the right mood for the show. Rising from either sides of the stage the models made their way to the “catwalk”.
Fountains, confetti and sparks made for an exciting presentation. The band showcased 5 sections, Golden Eagle, Kolibrie, Gilia, Ghost Flower, and Djinn, all designed to represent the “flora and fauna”, birds and mythical creatures found in an oasis. TJJ gives Oasis Carnival Band a thumbs up. They pulled off a beautiful and well organized presentation for launching a new band; costumes were gorgeous, nothing amazingly innovative but sexy and colourful.
Let’s see if this newbie band can pull off a successful presentation on the road, as they did on the stage and not leave us dying of thirst ;) Ahhh thussstyyy for wine mamaaa ... Ahh thusstyyy to grind mama ... LOL! TTJ lovin’ yuh and leavin’ yuh until next time J
