Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad (Sonique Solutions) – The July/August period in Trinidad and Tobago represents different things to different people. For some it is symbolic of a time to take a vacation or a break from school, the workplace or the constant pace of everyday life. However, for mobile powerhouse Bmobile, this time simply signifies another opportunity to continue their support of the local entertainment and cultural landscape through its Hot Ticket Summer promotion.

Hot Ticket Summer (HTS) is Bmobile’s annual promotion of events and activities in Trinidad and Tobago whereby its customers can text to win tickets to popular “summer time” events. This year’s promotion which runs from July 1st to August 31st 2010 has been certainly generating a buzz in T&T’s social sphere as the masses try to gain access to the hottest happenings on the local entertainment calendar by simply texting the event’s respective keyword to TSTT (8788).

This concept was primarily developed as a means of giving back to the company’s loyal customers including user of its LINK mobile community. The overall effort, however, runs deeper than a customer appreciation initiative as Bmobile aims to assist in sustaining and showcasing T&T’s rich cultural heritage as well as its entertainment sector stakeholders (artistes, event promoters, venues) through this promotion.

The “Green Machine” as it is referred to by faithful fans, has aligned itself with the cream of crop as it pertains to events for its HTS promotion. Lucky texters have the opportunity to win entry to this summer’s major activities including blockbuster movies at Movie Towne and Caribbean Cinemas 8 such as “The Last Airbender”, “Predators”, “The Expendables” and “Takers”.

HTS also consists of Fiesta Plaza concert specials highlighting homegrown musical talent of multiple genres, the 2010 edition of “Caution”, Sauté Trinbago (an all inclusive culinary affair featuring local cuisine and performers) and the annual Tobago party weekend, Great Fete Weekend. An event featuring a car giveaway is also carded for the promotion.

Caution, Island People’s signature mid-year fete is considered by many as the official summer kick-start party, while Great Fete Weekend which will be headlined by The King and Queen of Dancehall, Beenie Man and Lady Saw, is touted as the Caribbean’s biggest weekend party experience.

The Fiesta Plaza concert series will bring to the forefront Trinidadian sensation Sean Bartholomew who will be performing two shows “Classic Rock on Piano” and “Just Marley” (a tribute to Bob Marley) on July 15th and 16th respectively.
Sauté Trinbago on the other hand offers a wide array of culinary selections and specialty appetizers from locally based caterers such as Woodford Café, Benihana, Coco Lounge and Mrs. Trim’s Curry Crab and Dumpling. Accentuating this event will be top class live entertainment in the forms of a rhythm section, steelpan, tassa, the launch of Carnival mas band Oasis, Shurwayne Winchester and Y.O.U and Chutney band Dil-E-Nadan.

Added to this action packed agenda, is the highly anticipated fete/concert entitled ‘Earthstrong”, which is Soca artiste Bunji Garlin’s birthday celebration extravaganza. This major show on the 17th of July will star the former Soca Monarch King, his wife and fellow Soca entertainer Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez, Jamaican superstars Beenie man, Macka Diamond and Busy Signal, Iwer George, Problem Child, Tallpree and a host of other Soca and Reggae professionals.

When contacted, Garlin’s manager Ian Pantin explained that the Earthstrong event is an upgraded concept that acknowledges Bunji’s achievements as a master lyricist. He further shared, “Witnessing Bunji Garlin’s fans participating and celebrating his birth night with him and in his presence will be an emotional night never to be forgotten by all in attendance.

When asked about Bmobile coming on board for assistance and sponsorship of Earthstrong, Mr. Pantin stated that Bunji has had a solid relationship with Bmobile’s parent company TSTT since being signed to them as an artiste endorsee approximately six years. “Once we decided to introduce this concept to Trinidad, Bmobile was of course the first corporate entity we invited to join in his celebration and without hesitation they affirmed their participation.”

Pantin also added, “Long before other communication carriers were introduced to T&T, TSTT supported community based and cultural projects in Trinidad and Tobago. However, with the birth of their Bmobile brand, the relationship between local artistes and artistes’ value to the Bmobile brand has become priceless. Artistes are able to influence consumer appetite for the brand and Bmobile recognizes this. At the same time artistes welcome Bmobile as a corporate influence for assisting them with the necessary tools required for opening additional avenues of support for Soca and other local music and talent.”
