The St. Lucia Jazz Festival is an annual internationally-known event which takes place on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. The event brings together international as well as local musicians. The jazz festival not only features jazz music but also R&B, Reggae, Soca and Calypso.

The 19th edition attracted on this Sunday artistes such as;

Men of Soul (Jeffrey Osborne, Freddy Jackson, Phil Perry, Howard Hewett)
Esperanza Spalding
Dobet Gnahoré
Carl Gustave
Quito and the Edge

CROWD:
Today Pigeon Island is jam packed, people came in family or with friends. Lots of foreigners made it; you could tell by hearing differents accents of English, and FRENCH!!!! The crowd extends all the way up the hill, as well as, into quite a sizable area or in vip stands. A big up for all the sexy ladies and their fancy dress *hint hint*

VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
Like past years, the last day of the event was held on May 09th, 2010. The awesome Pigeon Point National Park hosted the performances with its huge main stage. See past reivews to best understand the sweet settings of this venue - 2008 / 2009.

VIBES:
Over the past few years the St. Lucia Jazz Festival has developed a reputation for the quality of the artistes, so it was no surprise to see the crowd so excited and ready to enjoy the show. The event started at 2pm, I arrived via a water taxi around 4pm, no time to suffer in traffic jam. The jazz vibes were on and poppin' from early o'clock, and I was really amazed by the performance of the Ivorian Dobet Gnahoré and the rising star Esperanza Spalding. There's nothing like Jazz to make you travel far, far away.

After some breaks with local Soca artists to promote the upcoming St. Lucia Carnival in July, I could feel the heat rising again with the Men of Soul singing their greatest hits. To end the show... the big Reggae stars! A long wait, but it was really worth it, Maxi Priest started the show with his worldwide hits followed by a hot, "Suavemente" and sometimes funny performance by Shaggy.

FOOD/DRINKS:
Oh my god, the food, I've been licking my fingers til the end, nothing better than the creole St. Lucian food!

It was a fantastic day with the music of Jazz, Soul and Reggae engulfed by the heat and flavours of the beautiful island of St. Lucia. TJJ will see you next year, the 20th Anniversary is coming soon ...
