Thursday, September 12; Kingston, Jamaica: The Venue for the Hart Hill Usain Bolt Homecoming Celebration concert on September 20, 2008 has been changed. CEO of National Meats/Hart Hill, David Philips explains:
"The venue for the concert has been changed because the Police advised us that the original venue lacked the infrastructure to accommodate the traffic, parking and crowd for such a large event".
Preparations are now on in earnest to ensure that the new venue, Usain's Alma-Mater William Knibb High School is ready for the Hart Hill Usain Bolt Homecoming Celebration concert.
"The William Knibb high School was selected because of several factors; it is close to the community, Usain attended the school, it was where he first rose to local and international prominence and the principal of the school has been fully supportive of the event". Stated Phillips
On Tuesday several members of the community of Sherwood Content voiced their displeasure at the relocation of the event but this initial apprehension was quelled when the reasoning behind the decision was explained. Philips went on further;
"If I am having a family reunion and my house is not large enough to accommodate everyone I would need to move the venue, but it would still be my family reunion. This is the same situation we are facing with Usain's homecoming. The new venue could not be more befitting for a homecoming for Usain; a native son of Trelawny and a graduate of the school".
On Saturday September 20, 2008, all roads will lead to the William Knibb High School where the Hart Hill Usain Bolt Homecoming Celebration Concert will take place. Members of the Sherwood content community, Trelawny and Jamaica as a whole are ready and in a heightened state of anticipation for this landmark event.
National Meats/ Hart Hill and the community of Sherwood Content would like to thank all who have been supporting this effort at paying homage to our great son. We are confident that the Hart Hill Usain Bolt Homecoming Celebration will be a fitting celebration of Usain's great accomplishments.
