>> Trinidad & Tobago Carnival 2010 Coverage
Traditionally, the Fetalotahon takes a small pause on carnival Friday to recover from BeachHouse and to get ready for the home stretch. We break that tradition this year. Islandboyz and Red Star Ent. decided to try their hand at a Carnival Friday boat ride. Seasoned veterans on the Toronto summer boat ride circuit, they figured why not try to bring the same vibe to Trinidad Carnival.
After a quick stop off at the usual Trinidad boat ride spot, we quickly realized that we were in the wrong spot. Back to Pier-1 we headed to find the Frenzy. We pull up around 1PM and the doubles man was just loading up on the boat. Good time for the bar test. So far so good, top shelf liquor and decent service. The promoter hung around for the stragglers and we eventually pulled out around 3PM. The weather was perfect for a boat ride although the water was a little on the rough side at times. By now the doubles man fully set up and the crowd was getting a good base before the serious business begins. Tunes was on, and the vibes were definitely building. Before you know it, dance in full swing and we somewhere down d islands jammin’. Not a bad way to spend a Carnival Friday afternoon at all. The bumsie ratio could use a lil jolt but it wasn’t too shabby.
I think this one has the potential to become a carnival staple. No hassles getting drinks, and the bar aint buss, which is more than we can say for a few events we checked out. Chatting with the promoters after the ride, they definitely have some plans for next year that should take this one up another notch. If you looking for something to do on carnival Friday, with a grown and sexy crowd and a premium all inclusive bar, check this one out next year. Special thanks to Islandboyz and Red Star Ent. for having us. We’ll see you next year!
