Remember the days of TTT when a “Music Video” was basically a 2 camera live performance inside on of their studios with some blinking red lights and the obligatory croton plant? We have come a long way since those days now with Synergy and Tempo Music Channels, artist are putting a lot of creativity and effort (and money!) into making sure that they are represented through the visual medium. One of the early pioneers of well done videos is SW Storm. At a time when a lot of videos were mish mashes of live clips or maybe a strict retelling of the song’s story line with images, Storm’s videos were classy affairs with lights and dancers and direction! This year he maintains his own high standard with two eye catching offerings with “CARNIVAL” and “DE HAMMER.”

Bringing music visually alive is a difficult task for anyone to achieve successfully, it takes creativity and a fair understanding of visual impact. Something that is obvious with SW Storm and Michael Fabien’s production on “CARNIVAL” is their obvious creative abilities and an interpretation that is full of fun, nostalgia and excitement. With a collage of various location shots ranging from Queens’ Park Savannah, Maracas Beach, Maracas lookout, Frederick Street, Dream Team Mas Camp, Ivan Kalicharan Mas Camp, Treasure Queen Party Cruise, Soca Monarch , City Gate, Memorial Park and Smokey and Bunty's to name a few, the video brings the experience of Carnival beautifully into your living room. Storm says “We wanted the video to be fun and incorporate many of the elements that showcase the true beauty and energy of Carnival..”

For Carnival 2010, Storm has given us 3 musical contributions “De Hammer”, “Carnival” and “Wha we Drinking.” With a music video already out for “De Hammer” the visual positively added more weight to the already popular Chutney Soca tune and which has been creating quite a stir in the Chutney Soca arena both locally and internationally. After seeing the success of “De Hammer,” Storm felt compelled to revisit Michael Fabien for another effective music video. Rave reviews for “De Hammer” poured in almost immediately after its release and is said to be one of the best directed music videos in the Soca Chutney arena. In fact in any arena!

Storm has never been afraid of the Camera and exudes a natural confidence that comes out in each frame. Not missed by the ladies I must add, some of whom are glad to be able match the voice with the body and the face! With two more videos under his belt, Storm will now be seen as much as his wonderful music is being heard.
