Tonite dis black man feeling tuh party... tonite de black man felling tuh jam, jam, jam... tonite de black man feeling to go to BAZODEE!!!
Bazodee is exactly how ah wanted tuh feel as I have already had my fill of stush all-inclusive fetes, so yuh boy and de rest of de TJJ Crew made their way down to Pier 1 for the 2nd installment of "Bacchanal Factory" (the revised/remixed Bazodee Friday) tuh get on bad! Ah had meh ticket in hand, rag tuh wave, ah ole jersey on (because it go soon come off and could get lost in de wildness), now it's time to "PALANCE"!!
Alright no traffic to get down in to Chaguaramas, real parking in Pier 2, and a seeing no line at de door... But what's dis? Ticket scalpers every where trying to sell their ticket for TT$100 or less! Like it’s Dunhill One Fete all over again where de scalpers had to sell their tickets for TT$200!! A tell yuh dis recession making partying a buyers' market!!! Dat aside ah made meh way into de party only to see a small crowd with smallies everywhere! Ah swear dat ah was back in Fatima Mayfair!!!
De crowd started to slowly build and then it was time for Kes The Band. All dressed in preppy layered sweater vests and featuring eight odd back up dancers, Kes The Band performance felt more complete this time. And even Nadia Batson dismissed her detractors who say she too decent and can't wine as she wined her new slender body into every man's carnal mind during her "Bumpers Rule" C2K9 tune! And not to be left out, Kees Dieffenthaller's "Heaven" duet with Nadia was solid as usual. Following, Kes The Band performance we caught guest appearances by 'Pipe Man' Patch and 'Wicked Jab' Tallpree!
The DJs took their turn injecting de Soca remedy into the crowd and surprisingly it was Buffy's mellower "Anything" tune had the crowd going and singing!!! With it infectious hook, catchy rhythm and easy sing along vocal range ah now see why dis song has so much appeal.
Next was Shurwayne Winchester & Y.O.U. who also appeared wearing preppy layered sweater vests, but this time Shurwayne looked more like Mr. Rogers than a young Soca star! He quickly went through his repertoire and made a sudden Michael Jacksonesque freeze frame stop hoping to get a huge crowd response. Instead the crowd, most of who were born after 1985, remained unresponsive!
Other cameo appearances by Super Jigga T.C. and Iwer George helped to keep the Soca manufacturing line going. But other than that, de overall party vibe was a bit flat. In the end, with some good maintenance de Bachannal Factory can make a resurgence once again!
Keiron was there... where were you?
