Fantastic Friday Finalists Announced The Semi-Final round of the BMobile International Soca Monarch Competition in the Groovy and Power soca categories took place at the Arima Velodrome on Sunday 20th January 2008. The show began at 6:30pm and went on into the early hours of Monday morning. From all appearances patrons thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they jumped, wined and waved their flags and rags for their favourite soca artistes. The evening was memorable for the level of representation coming from our Caribbean neighbours. We were treated to performers coming out of Antigua, St. Vincent, Barbados and Grenada. In total seventy soca artistes faced the judges, each hoping for a place in the grand finals which comes off on Fantastic Friday, February 1st 2008 at the newly refurbished Queens Park Oval facility. The entire evenings activity went on without any incident occurring whatsoever. This has been one of the major accomplishments of Caribbean Prestige Foundation; security and protection of patrons has always been a top priority concern for the organisation. Certainly
great expectation and anxiety awaits the announcement of the final list of names,
as supporters, managers and their crew hold their nerves in check before the final
adrenaline rush takes over. Defending Groovy Soca Monarch "Biggie Irie" of Barbados has to stoutly defend his title on Fantastic Friday 1st February 2008 against nine strong finalists. These are:- (01)
