Rootz
Underground #1 on MTV TEMPO Kingston, Jamaica: - After just 5 weeks on MTV Tempo's Cross Caribbean Countdown, Rootz Underground's first video, 'Victims of The System', has peaked at # 1. "And it's all because of our fans' votes. It shows that support for positive, new Jamaican music is strong within their hearts and across the Caribbean." Rootz member Colin Young said enthusiastically.
Rootz Underground has just signed with Neil Robertson and Steve Wilson of Mystic Urchin who are now managing the band. Rootz' new management are getting ready to service their 1st video to music stations all over North America and Europe.
Though Rootz' debut album 'Movement' is scheduled to be released in September, the band has been busy in the studio recording additional singles. They have just completed 'Farming' with Bobby Digital, 'Riverstone' with Dean Fraser and are about to start work with Mikey Bennett.
While Rootz is excited about being at #1 in such a short time they know that staying there is key as Colin explains: "Being at number one is great, but staying at number one is what will shake Babylon to the core. Staying in the top 10 must be a reality if the message of positive music is to truly take root across the Caribbean and eventually the entire world!" =================================== Rootz Underground Revolution reggae music - edgy, raw, natural, roots... They are Rootz Underground, that is their sound. Many influences have borne their 'rootz', including their homeland Jamaica - birthplace of Rastafari and other radical movements, JAH - creator of all things, family, the earth in all its glory, the revolutionary 70's, dub and roots reggae music. The revolution that is Rootz Underground began in 2000 when the band members, whose lives had crossed paths sometime or another from childhood, linked their individual musical talents in search of forming one solid unit. Individually each had begun on a road of truth seeking, of naturalism, of reverence to the Most High. Collectively then, their union affirms an aim of bringing a JAH-inspired message to the masses. And the revolution continues... The band envisage the future free from the shackles of Babylon - liberated from the 9-5, taking the Rootz Underground message far and wide as their sole life's-work. As they say, prayer and hard work reaps rewards - Their journey has only just begun. This summer they dug their 'rootz' in Europe for the first. Many more firsts smile at Rootz Underground from the horizon as their talent shine through and is increasingly recognized in the music business locally and internationally. Their 1st single: 'Victims of The System' has already been heating up airwaves and the video has peaked at # 2 on Hype TV's video charts, # 2 on RE TV's video countdown and # 1 on MTV Tempo's Cross Caribbean countdown.
and the revolution continues... Band
