The Grenada Board of Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture held a Mini Tradeshow and Launch of this year’s Grenada’s Spice Mas at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain on Tuesday June 28, 2011 allowing us to experience various elements of Grenada, Carriacou & Petite Martinique as a tourist destination and all things Carnival!
The evening got started with a mini trade show where Grenadian hoteliers and other exhibitors showcased their products to invited travel professionals, tour operators, cultural icons and media practitioners, amongst others.
The trade show was followed by a few short presentations where the Minister for Tourism Hon. Peter David and the Director of Tourism Mr. Simon Stiell both discussed Grenada’s appeal as a destination for Trinidadians, welcoming T&T nationals to continue to visit Grenada, not only for Carnival but year round for the island’s other events and activities.
The T&T launch of Spice Mas 2011 represented the 3rd overseas launch following ones in London (UK) and Toronto (Canada) as Grenada celebrates 30 years of Spicemas. The event included live entertainment by popular Grenadian Soca artistes, who were accompanied by the sweet music of the Royal Grenada Police Force Band. We caught up with Tallpree, Brother B, Otis and Zingo who were mingling and taking photos with fans. For more information on Grenada’s Spicemas 2011, visit www.spicemasgrenada.com
